Fabia Classic Rear Passenger door lock will not lock - NOT Central Locking
Hi @Pete_Ex-Wino OK I got this fixed, well sort of. I removed the door card and was faced with a rivetted plate covering the whole door. I drilled out the 8 rivets to get to the inside of the door handle where the thin bar joins the pop up button to the handle mechanism. I found that the two were not connected as the eyelet that the bar should have been connected through had broken. Best attempt at repairing this was with a tie-wrap which appears to have done the trick. Not best pleased with the body shop so will be having a word this morning. Also had to find a friend with a rivet gun to put the plate back on...... Not sure what Skoda were thinking of with a dirty great plate riveted behind the door card, there must have been better ways of holding the window winder on!

Fabia Classic Rear Passenger door lock will not lock - NOT Central Locking
Hi @Pete_Ex-Wino Sorry I lost my login and had to jump through all manner of hoops to get back in! So I tried your approach but on removing the cover on the rear door handle I was faced with more plastic. There was no hole as per the illustration I totally stumped now. My guess is the external handle need to come off or the inside release but I'm non the wiser.

Fabia Classic Rear Passenger door lock will not lock - NOT Central Locking
Hi, thanks for the feedback. The Bodyshop has normally been 100% with work done to the family cars. They called me to let me know of the issue to both front and rear passenger doors but it took them a further 2 days to get the front door working - very unusual for them. I called Skoda in Watford who were actually quite helpful over the phone, but the rear door is still a problem. Unfortunately, I can't seem to go to any other pages in your link to view the removal or installing of the handle or locks I don't mind playing with this myself, however they did inform me that there is a riveted plate behind the door card attached to the door which they needed to remove in order to remove the front lock mechanism. Not sure why they needed to do this unless something dropped out whilst removing the handle.

Fabia Classic Rear Passenger door lock will not lock - NOT Central Locking
Hi all I have a Fabia classic with no bells or whistles - OK it has AC. This has no central locking or electric windows this car is as back to basics as you can get. I took it in for a small dent repair to the rear door and the body shop took off the handle to respray. However on putting it back they are unable to get it to operate again. The plunger button does not move and I can't lock the door - it remains stubbornly down slightly lower than the others but unlocked and never rises again. This must be a very simple affair as there are no actuators or electrics involved. Can anyone supply me with any ideas or diagrams to resolve this issue.
