  1. I see. I might call the dealer tomorrow, if they're not expensive I might buy one in anyway and just replace it and see if it fixes the problem, that way I won't have to piece everything back together while I wait for it to be delivered.
  2. Thanks so much guys, I haven't had chance to check the relay yet plus I only want to check it when the shops are open for me to buy a replacement if it's needed but I'm fairly confident it must be that. If 2 lights work and the third doesn't surely the fault can only be with where they split, being the relay? Is it likely to be a standard relay I could pick up in Maplin etc or will it need to be ordered in by my local Skoda dealer? And yeah I did check the fuse, in fact I checked all of them to be sure!
  3. Yep, no problem there are all. In fact just to pass the MOT I've wired the high level light into one of the black/red wires leading to the lower brake lights but that obviously hasn't got rid of the light on the dashboard reminding me something isn't right when I brake for the first time after turning on the ignition.
  4. Thanks for your reply. I'll check tonight but the dash is reporting a fault with a bulb so I assume that means I've got the bulb failure module? Is it possible to be fried and still power the main brake lights but not the high level one?
  5. Hi All, A little while ago I retro-fitted cruise control to my 05 Fabia vRS which in the end involved removing the dash (long story!). Anyway, when piecing the car back together I had a minor mis-communication with my other half and connected the battery while the ignition was on, blowing a couple of fuses. Anyway, changing a couple of fuses and bulbs had the car back in working order but a few days later I noticed the high level brake light wasn't working. I assumed the light itself had been fried but I have since taken it out and tested it and it works fine. So I traced the wiring back from the light into the boot and I'm still getting no voltage on it here. I'm assuming I've blown something somewhere between the brake switch and the back of the car but have no idea where it could be, or perhaps I dislodged something when removing/replacing the dash? The wiring diagram in the Haynes manual isn't much help, all I know is the wire from the brake switch is black and red, but somewhere it must split into 3 for each of the brake lights, and if the other two are working how can only one not? Any help or advise would be much appreciated!
  6. Yeah, I went for a drive as soon as we'd pieced it all back together but no luck at all. I'm getting a really odd fault code now that nobody seems to know of, I think it is the "You idiot you plugged it into the wrong plug" fault code.
  7. Thanks for your reply, I'm fairly sure I should also have used the pin 6 T11b too. I didn't think to try clearing the fault code and check it at that point because I assumed there would be a few fault codes considering I'd disconnected just about every electrical component in the dashboard to get to it! Wish I had tried now though!
  8. Hi Guys, After fitting cruise control yesterday I really couldn't see any way of getting to the T11a without removing the entire dash. Not something I really wanted to do but now I've seen the board I think it was the only way to do it! Even if you can squeeze your hand through to the board I don't know how you'd find the right terminal let alone the right pin. Once the dash is off you can easily access it. Only problem was I plugged it into the T11a pin 10 and it didn't work. The instructions also show that you can plug it into pin 6 on T11b so that may be my problem.
  9. Hi Guys, I've already posted on another thread so apologies if I'm repeating myself but my problem might enlighten someone else here! I've just fitted the cruise control and had to remove the whole facia to get to the bulkhead. However, I plugged the white wire into pin 10 on the T11a and it isn't working, so am I right in thinking I should have used pin 6 on T11b? My car is a 2005 VRS if that makes any difference? Cheers guys, really want to make sure I know what's wrong before I take the dashboard to pieces again!
  10. Hi Guys, Wondered if anyone could help me out. I bought the cruise control kit from Skoda and spent most of yesterday fitting it, I had to remove the entire facia to get to the transverse wall, how anybody has managed to do this without removing the facia I don't know, they must be contortionists with small hands! Anyway, put everything back together and it isn't working! The only thing that sticks out is that the instructions seem to show that you can connect the white wire to either pin10 on the T11a or pin 6 on the T11b. I went for the T11a pin 10 but now wondering if I should have gone for the other! Does anyone have any experience with this? The only other thing I haven't done is clear the fault code from when I activated cruise control and started the engine without it installed, but I'll give that a go today. Any help is really appreciated!
  11. Just to round the thread off nicely I eventually took the car to a Chemix garage near me. They serviced and topped up the Air Con for £39.95 and now it's like driving an ice block. Bring on the sun!
  12. Thanks guys. I've got no reason to think theres any significant leak, the air con has just gradually got less effective over about 12 months so I'd assume that's normal. Also, as someone mentioned the can does contain some oil. However, sounds to me like it's well worth the extra few quid to get it done properly, I can certainly see the benefit of clearing out the current system.
  13. Hi Everyone, Just came across this thread and wondered what the significance is of the VRS not being "type approved" for a towbar? If it's not detailed on the V5 could you invalidate your insurance? If you were to have an accident while towing could the insurance company squerm out of paying up?
  14. Hi All, The air con on my Fabia VRS is out of charge (I assume) so I was considering the Interdynamics Air Conditioning Measure and Charge product available from Halfords etc. Has anyone tried this product? What do you think of it, and is it easy enough to get to the Air Con port on the Fabia (2005). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
