I have a 170CR Man Elegance. Anybody else notice "rattles" on their car? I had a mk1 superb and that did not rattle at all until it had done lots of miles. I have 2 distinct noises: 1. Behind the dash in between the climate control unit and towards the steering wheel 2. The rear armrest The ride is harder than I thought it would be so maybe that contributes. Any comments welcomed!

Just taken delivery of my 170CR Elegance and cannot find the button inside to release the boot. Does one exist!!

Sorry to start this up again! A dealer local to my new company tells them he can fit the rear dimming mirror retrospectively. Apparently if there is a fault on the factory fitted one they can replace it. Does anybody know if this is true??

Is this factory order?? It is the only option I am considering adding to a 2.0tdi 170 elegance model and want to know if it will make delivery longer. Thanks

Yeah - good point. My foot isn't that heavy so not really a consideration. I use the car for business mostly (30k pa normally) so it would make it more relaxing a cruiser if I had a DSG on it. As I said - I keep changing my mind!! I want somebody to tell me what is the best option!! Not going to happen though as it is so subjective.

Thats useful: 1) Do you do a lot of town driving ? No 2) Are you heavy right footed ? Yes 3) Do you like to be involved in the driving ? Yes = 4) Would you rather simply drive, and not think about it ? Yes So - it looks 3 to 1 in favour of the manual!!

I need to give my company the answer tomorrow and I really am 50/50! I fancy the DSG because I think it "suits" the Elegance 170tdi BUT I do like manual cars. If I am this undecided, it is probably not worth £200pa on my tax bill as! If I really wanted one I would have one regardless of tax. Still - I might change my mind again before tomorrow!!!

I had a DSG Elegance TDi 170 for a couple of days and did about 50 miles or so in it. I did like it - very relaxed driving. I normally get a manual but this is something different. I just cannot decide if it is worth £200 a year for the DSG and less mpg.

Looking at finally sorting this out in the New Year but cannot decide between the standard 6sp manual or the DSG box. I am a company car user and the DSG is £200 pa more in company car tax. Anybody got any views? Is it worth paying a little more tax for the DSG??? Any help appreciated

Which alloys look best on the new Superb Elegance? I cannot decide between the 18" Thermisto or the 18" Lunas. Anyone get any opinions!

Yeah I hope so to. Somebody is going to pick that up at auction and not be aware of the fault. No exactly the honourable thing to do!

The "hole" on the intercooler is elongated and the pipe is fairly new. I am told whatever pipe goes in it will be loose. Anyway it is fairly academic as the leasing company are not budging from £5250!! They are happy to take the chances through an auction so good luck to them The car is being swapped next week! Thanks for your help.

Maybe.... but I still don;t really know how much an intercooler fitted in a local garage is going to cost me. Is it one of those jobs that once they start looking into it the costs escalate.

I am not likely to be able to get an intercooler and a service for £250 though... Intercoolers on the web seem to be about £200 new. Fitting in a local garage - £???. Service - £200??? Help!!!!

The dealer has just confirmed that it needs a new intercooler for £950+VAT (at least - could be more!!). The leasing company are offering to take the car back and swap it early as they do not want to spend that money. Is £950 a realistic figure for a new intercooler. I need to make a decision by Monday on what to do and need help quickly!!!

Thanks for the reply. I have "agreed" a price of £5250 for 12mths mot and tax and the cambelt done. This was agreed before the intercooler issue!!

Hi My 55 Superb 1.9TDi Elegance has developed a rattle at 1000-1200rpm. The dealer has diagnosed an elongated hole on the intercooler where the pipe enters. It is a company car and the leasing company are not authorising a repair as the lease is up in a month or so. The mileage is 76k. Does anybody know: 1. Is there any issue with driving the car with above (other than an annoying rattle!) 2. How much would it be to sort this problem out. I might be buying the car hence question 2. Thanks

That's what I thought. If I could get it for £5k then it might be a goer. It has been my company car from new so I know the history. I thought the market was absolutely dead but the leasing company are not budging from £6k at the moment!! They would struggle to get £4k through the trade if I handed it back

The p/x value is £4100 The leasing company I want to buy the car off wanted £7k but have just reduced to £6k. Does this seem a good price for a 55 Elegance 1.9TDi Manual??

Well! I have just received a p/x valuation on a new Superb for my old Superb 55 plate 1.9 Elegance with 80k. The valuation from my local dealer was £4100. Does this sound about right??
