  1. From memory that’s the closest you would get. However if you read part 2 of the legislation you will see how outdated it is. It was written in an era before LCD screens and digital displays and is therefore open for interpretation and challenge. For example. The screen in our Octavias is capable of showing a display numerous displays such as Apple Music, Spotify, BBC Sounds, podcasts, Callander and so on. None of these would help me get to my destination or with the status of my vehicle. Yet in the parameters of this legislation I would be commuting an offence in seeing said screens while driving… Granted.. a moving image such as let’s say.. YouTube would be considered a more severe use however.. the legislation doesn't allow for scale. Thus leaving it open to be quashed. This is why dangerous or careless driving becomes the go to. If I was to see a vehicle taking a corner slightly wide or having been in a bump and it can be proven that the driver had been watching a moving image on his or her screen. I’d be prosecuting them for dangerous driving. The legislation needs re writing in a number of areas. Like painting the forth bridge.
  2. Hi Dave You won’t find that law. As it doesn’t exist mate. Naturally the new phone legislation clamps down and makes streaming from a mobile device an offence. Likewise watching and filming footage. But the actual act of watching something on a fitted screen is not an offence. As stated. It would merely be a contributing factor to such offences as dangerous drive and other related traffic law. There is no specific law that prevents one from being able to watch a moving image on a fitted screen. All of this is a bit of a silly discussion however as that’s not my intended use
  3. First of all, The Wanderer… I’m not entirely certain where your high horse came from. My OP merely asked if this had been attained as yet. There was no mention of the vehicle being in motion. However to clarify for your own piece of mind .. common sense would prevail and I wouldn’t be using it while in motion. I am a DofE leader and do a lot of sitting around and waiting during the summer.. therefore I want this facility available to me within my vehicle instead of using a tablet.. which might I add is now an offence with the engine running. Secondly.. the above brings me nicely onto the law. Put simply, you’re wrong. Moving image on a display is not illegal at all. If it were we wouldn’t have a moving map function on our dashboards and moving digital displays. Audi and Merc have had moving image split screens since the early naughties in their top end vehicles. What does complete the offence however is dangerous driving or indeed driving without due care. While watching a moving image while driving is NOT an offence. It becomes a contributing factor to the above offences. likewise not wearing shoes.. or wearing inappropriate footwear. They are contributing factors. That said.. I would support the introduction of its own offence should it be introduced into traffic law. I am a roads policing officer of nine years. now… back on trend. Has anyone managed it yet?
  4. Morning all. i have seen recent chatter on other forums of video play on the infotainment system being possible with use of a few apps using android. has anyone manage to obtain this functionality using iPhone at all? ideally YouTube play is all I would really need personally however any video functionality would be great if achievable. thanks in advance.
  5. brilliant!!! Thank you.. I don’t know how yet but this does help a lot!! cheers chap
  6. Bump. can anyone that has the boot tray post some images of it in situ and confirm if plastic is sturdy or is it flimsy?
  7. Evening all Can anyone help me with parts and where I can purchase everything needed to raise my boot floor? I currently have a standard Octavia IV Diesel Estate with the base level flooring which in hindsight is less than ideal for my needs. i need to bring it up level with the boot lip or as close as I can get but I cannot for the life of me find the parts needed. The closest I have found so far is the boot tray which I could turn upside down and replace the basic floor ontop however that’s not ideal. Any help would be much appreciated. cheers, simon.
