  1. I may have finally solved this problem, although I am not sure how I did it. After reinstalling Android Auto on my phone multiple times (even the new beta version) without success, I found that I could temporarily get it to work by going to the Apps screen on my phone, selecting Android Auto, then storage, then delete the data and cache. The next time I was in the car it worked ! That was the good news, the bad news is that as soon as I used any of the Android Apps (Muzio, TuneIn,etc), the voice assistant once again sounded like a broken robot. Today I somehow fiddled with the configuration settings in the Infotainment and started the whole process again from square one. It meant that all contacts, home address, etc had to be re-entered. But the voice assistant worked again. I have now been trying it for the last couple of hours and it is still working. If it is still working tomorrow I will start to believe that the problem is solved. By the way, I asked the dealer for assistance about this several days ago and still waiting for anyone to return my call. I would not buy another car from that dealership - ever.
  2. I should have also included that I have the Columbus infotainment system with the Canton speakers.
  3. After waiting almost 12 months for my new Karoq Sportline, it has finally been delivered. The car is mostly great and, fortunately for me, did not come with features missing due to the semiconductor shortage. I am however having one problem that I have been unable to resolve. When I connect my new Samsung S22+ smartphone to use Android Auto, the voice assistance is completely unintelligible. All I hear are small bits of broken words. Music however plays perfectly, all other functions are fine. It is only the voice assistant which does not work. I have tried upgrading to the latest version of Android Auto (and even the beta version) without success. I have tried connecting via USB cable, but the same problem remains. I would like to know if any other drivers have had this issue with the Samsung Galaxy S22+. I do not know whether the problem is with the phone or the car.
  4. Well I have been off for a 450 km drive in the new wheels. It was a case of excitement mixed with a little anxiety, but so far it has passed with flying colours. The average petrol consumption was 5.9 l/100 km = not bad for the 4x4, Sportline 2litre engine. I am still working out some of the buttons. I think it will be quite a learning curve. I will post a couple of pictures in the next couple of days/
  5. Thanks, I am off on a long drive tomorrow. It's been a long time coming, but hopefully it will be worth it.
  6. Well I finally collected the new Karoq Sportline from the dealer, almost 12 months after the order was placed. To my relief, all the features are included. I was worried that I might find myself the owner of a "semiconductor optimised" model (aka dumbed down version). The car certainly looks impressive and I love the bright red metallic colour. My only disappointment so far is that there is no audible chirp when locking or unlocking, however I understand that this is because of noise pollution regulations. I hope that the car is as reliable as my previous Skoda Octavia VRS ( 8 years without a single issue). The dealer also told me that the wait time for new orders has blown out to around 18 months. Apparently one of the their large manufacturing plants in Ukraine was recently destroyed by the bloody Russians.
  7. I have ordered the Sportline version, so I am hoping that it will have plenty of power for me. I hardly ever used the full power of the VRS, apart from fast overtaking. I am too old for boy racing at the traffic lights.
  8. Thanks, It's so long ago since I placed the order that I have almost forgotten what the car is like. One of the main reasons I chose the Karoq was for the higher headroom. As I am getting older I am finding that a low roof keeps banging me on the cranium. I have owned an Octavia VRS for the past seven years and it is still going like new. I hope the Karoq is just as good.
  9. Well the car was only built in late February 2022. The big delay was between the time of ordering and the time for it to go to production. The rest of the time was spent on the long journey from Europe to Australia. It was a bit of a pain, since I have never waited more than 2 or 3 weeks for any other new car I have bought.
  10. Well it's now over ten months since I paced my order for my new Karoq Sportline and it has apparently finally arrived in Melbourne. According to my research the vehicle carrier docked in Melbourne on the 24th May, but Skoda Australia are still telling me it will take another month to travel from the docks to the dealer (about 25 km away). It must be being transported by a turtle.
  11. Latest update on the delivery of my Karoq (ordered 9 months ago) is that it has apparently been built and is somewhere on a ship on its way to Australia. It must be a very slow ship as they still tell me my delivery is not expected before mid July 2022. The ship has supposedly already been at sea for 6 weeks. I am beginning to wonder if anything they say is actually true/
  12. I just got an exciting update from Skoda. Apparently my car has now been built and is on a ship underway to Australia. The ETA for delivery has been stated as 14th July 2022. That is almost exactly 11 months after I placed my order.
  13. It probably varies from dealer to dealer. I can see that many dealers would not be prepared to wait such a long time to complete the deal. They will try to convince you that another model would be better.
  14. I tried ringing another Skoda dealer to see what sort of lead times they were quoting for new Karoq. Their salesman told me that they were no longer taking orders for new Karoq, since the lead time had blown out to around a year. I have already been waiting 8 months for mine and my dealer says that it wont be here before mid July at the earliest.
  15. That seems an incredibly short time for delivery. I ordered my Karoq Sportline in August 2021 and apparently it is not expected till July 2022 - 11 months from date of order. I have to admit feeling a little jealous.
  16. It sounds like your long wait is nearly over. It is looking like my wait will be close to a year since I placed the original order. It is getting hard to remember what the car actually looks like.
  17. I got an update today from my dealer. He is now telling me that delivery will be 15th July 2022. That is almost twelve months since I placed the original order. It is unclear whether the vehicle has actually been built yet. It is just as well I already have a reliable car.
  18. I received another email from the National Sales Manager today. It said that it would normally take 10 weeks for a vehicle to travel from the production line to the dealer in Australia. If that is true, it will make the total time from order to delivery to around 9 and a half months.
  19. Yes of course we have Skoda in Australia. The yearly sales figures are growing rapidly.
  20. That is probably a good estimate to when the car will be made, but probably does not allow for the time for delivery. I ordered mine 7 months ago and have been told that it is due to be built this week. Then I have to wait for it to travel half way round the world to Melbourne.
  21. Yesterday I received an email saying my car was "definitely scheduled for production this week". That sounds promising. It's been over 6 months since I placed the order, so I wonder how long it will now take to get to my garage.
  22. After trying several times to contact Skoda Australia "Customer Care", I gave up when none of my calls was ever returned, even after two weeks. I decided to do my own research and find out the names of some key management at Skoda Australia. After sending an email to the National Sales Manager, I received a reply the very next day. At least that was a start. He told me that my car was "possibly due for building next week". I will wait with baited breath for new updates and let you know when my vehicle finally arrives.
  23. I am in Melbourne Australia. I ordered my new Karoq Sportline 6 months ago, but so far have no updates at all. The Skoda order tracker just says "Contact your Dealer", but the dealer does not seem to care. I suspect they would not care if the order was cancelled, as they could almost sell it to someone else for much more than was agreed on my contract. I would love to hear from other recent Australian buyers as to how long they were kept waiting.
  24. I have been a happy Skoda owner for the past 7 years, currently driving an Octavia VRS. I decided to upgrade to a new Karoq Sportline and placed my order with a Melbourne dealer back in August 2021. At the time they promised that I would get "regular updates" as to the status of my order. Six months have now gone past and I have never once been contacted by the dealer. I have tried using the "track my Order" link on the Skoda website and all it says is "Contact your Dealer". I would like to hear from any other Australian customers who have actually received their cars, to let me know how long it finally took from order to receipt. The dealer seems unable/unwilling to give any information at all. I almost feel that they are wanting the order to be cancelled so that they could resell the new car at a higher price than the one on my contract.
