  1. Thank you for that! Yeah it is CAYC How bad is it for you to be a needle roller down? Would you drive on it?Would it be expensive to fix? Just because I’m weighing up whether it’s better to repair the octy or just sell and get a new car. Norris
  2. I did an oil change today and there was a pretty sizeable metal bit in the oil as well as a few metal shavings. I’m a bit worried that it may be an indication of more wear to come - that may be expensive to fix. I was just wondering if someone could please help me identify what it is that came out the engine and how bad is it? Appreciate any help
  3. Thanks for the help I really appreciate it! So would it be better for the engine to keep the EGR bypassed or to replace it and have original routing? I’m guessing there would be a general increase in the wear and tear of the internals if I left it the way it was? Just because if there is; it may be another reason - apart from the lack of oil changes - as to why 11 of 16 engine tappets had play and had to be replaced! I bought it from my uncle who said he got it remapped but he never went into detail about what he was actually up to.
  4. So I had a look, I’m still not sure what component the piping is going into, but I did get some photos. So in the first photo it’s the middle pipe about an inch in diameter and this is in the left hand side of the engine bay. It then runs down the back of the engine to the right hand side behind a metal plate has a 90degree angled connection to a metal pipe that runs above the timing belt. The pipe then runs up the side of the car above the alternator where there’s a sensor plugged in and goes into the engine. Sorry about the vagueness of the description, I’m a fairly new DIY’er
  5. It’s a 1.6 TDI CAYCP56966
  6. Went on my usual run in the Octy and got a coolant warning light. Got it home and checked underneath, found a coolant pipe behind the engine running just above the right transmission arm, running behind a metal bracket. Someone did a botched job with Jubilee clips and extra piping. I’ve got an appointment with my local garage this Friday, but am wanting to bring them the pipe myself so that they can just fit it on the day. My only problem is I’m unsure of the part number for ordering it up. After looking up a diagram for the cooling system it’s not made anything clearer. So I’d really appreciate any help or knowledge on the matter.
  7. Nice, thank you for the reply, I’ll give it a go! Out of interest would you take the bumper off if you were doing a job like this??
  8. I recently was driving my 2012 Skoda Octavia 1.6 TDI and a piece of debris knocked out the plastic front left ventilation grill, I've ordered the replacement part and was just wondering how easy it is to replace/install? Would you need to take the front bumper off? How would you remove the remnants of the damaged part? Is it just clipped in? Ive attached a photo of it and I'd appreciate any help as I'm a bit of a noob.
