  1. Thanks for yr reply.I bought the car as new with original clutch and than I passed 40 000 km.Yes I do p.3 and 4 from your answer. Once per year ,since 2002 I do drive 500 km(from Varna to Sofia) with havy load ,(totally up to 400 -450 kg) and there are uphills to pass on the route. So loaded abt.400 kg. last week i started from Varna and after 120 km. when I started to climb a hill the clutch began to slip and smell as burned and the car lost power totally.I did reolaced the clutch in the nearest town ,the technician told me that the clutch is gone and said it may be that I do drive with my leg on the clutch pedal (driving on semi-clutch way). Trully I drive abt.40 years this way (may be for safety reason but knowing that this is wrong.) He advised me that the rest 300 km.to sofia I must drive with maximum 70-80 km/h speed because the new clutch needs this ?? This is the story.
  2. The clutch assy of my fabia 1.4 benzin (2002) was totaly worned after 40 000 km. drive and i had to replace it. Is this a normal termin for the replacement or it is due to bad driving , overloading the car or defected fabrication of the part ? What is the normal average life of this part? Thanks in advance for any opinion on this matter.
  3. Actually I fixed the compartment doing the following: 1. I cot a square hole in the plastic pocket(where the handle lays) ,big enough to move with a screwdriver the horizontal bar which is inside and which opens the latch i.e. the glove compartment. 2. To cover the hole when the compartment is closed,I sticked a small magnet next to it and I sticked a little iron plate on the rear side of the broken handle. When The compartment is closed ,the handle is set (using the magnetic force) inside its original place(pocket). If someone needs this idea, I can send him over digital photos of this "assembly".
  4. Dear members, The plastic latch handle of my Fabia's (2002) glove box compartment broke today when I tried to open the compartment pulling it , so I can not open the compartment any more. Please advise me how to open it and eventualy how to replace the door and/or its lock.Drilling a hole to press the lock inside the box or unscrewing and removing the board panel under the glove box? Is there aniy photo instruction how to disassemble the panel? thanks a lot .
  5. The sensor costs 30 usd here(too expensive)- I tried to replace it but I had problem to pull out the thermometer's wire from its plastic socket (no wonder with my 7 years old car) .The socket is indicated as made for VW cars- If I turn the wire or the socket with pliers they may break. May be I have to soak and clean them with petroleum to make the unscrewin easier. If you got any experience in unplugging such sockets pls. let me know .Thank you for your help. What is a VAGCOM code scan? Is it a test carried out in the SKODA car services? I am grateful.
  6. Recently my Fabia's electronic control board reads faulty outer(ambient) temperatures (with the temperature sensor placed in the engine compartment under the front left light ).The error is with 5-6 degrees Celsius above the real temperature outside.I do not know wheather the temp. sensor is faulty or it is the controll board. Pls. help with your advise - for replacing the temp. sensor or checking the electronic device function?Thank you in advance..
  7. Thanks apOgee! I will trink couple of beers for your health too. Better if I could treat you with good beer ).
  8. Hi apOgee, I followed your very good guide as I have also the problem with the ev. sensor on my Fabia 1.4 which I bought new in 2002.-This year I found that a/c is not OK.When I first start the engine -a/c works but soon it will stop and blows no cold air .After a stop and cool out of engine it may start working again for a while. Some days ago I went to the SKODA service in Sofia(I live in Sofia-Bulgaria).I was told by an technician that my compressor is foulty(cost about 500 Euro-two month's average salary). Luckily I have red your posting here and I decided to replace the ev.sensor myself(I bought it for 15 Eu.)So I refused to replace the compressor-instead I decided to replace the sensor and do it myself-to save another 50 Euro or so. I followed your picture instruction which I printed from the pdf file, step by step-and it was ok(I would never disassembled the dash without your guide).Disassembly lasted about 1/2 hr. but than when I started trying to remove the sensor from its hole(to pull out the plugged in the sensor 2 wires switch (connector) with one hand only I couldnt. But I did not give up and went on trying-about 5 hrs. but with no result. Eventually I cot the 2 wires ,took easily the sensor out and adding new pieces of wire to prolong the existing ones I connected the new sensor with the switch and thrusted it into the evaporator's hole. The reverse assembly lasted abt. 1 hr. and again your guide was very helpful. So after 7 hrs. I fixed the new ev.sensor and the a/c started to work normally.Well my spinn ,backhead ,ribs ,neck and and hands were to painful for one day or two from all the overhead job done with my body almost hanging upside down from the seat under the steering wheel and looking up in a small dark hole with a hot lamp near my head to see the bloody sensor (never in my life have I tortured myself so much doing a mechanical repair).Anyway I am now satisfied asl my aircon is working well and I will survive from the hot weather driving withmy Fabia. Thank you again.
