  1. Just a thought - the Brake pad sensor is on the nearside front only so could it be something to do with that?
  2. I found the same - my Diesel Octavia estate 2005 is without doubt the best car I have ever owned. Yes, it's diesel but goes like the clappers and gives me 43 on local running - just did 1600 miles driving up to Scotland, visiting rellies and driving back and it gave me 53 mpg. Can't fault it for comfort and efficiency. So I share your pain getting rid of yours. Chin up!
  3. Hey Rob sorry for delay! Yes, mine has always been key only - single clockwise twist in driver's door to unlock just the driver's door; double twist clockwise in the drivers door to open all doors and boot; single twist anticlockwise to lock all; second twist anticlockwise to deadlock. I've never had a remote fob - my Octy was never designed to have one. Needless to say the passenger door now just spins and does nothing. When I first had the issue with the driver's door lock, I squished a washer onto the spade-like end of the armature that engages in the mechanism to act as a spacer and that actually helped for a month or two, but when all finally gave in, that's when I swapped the lock barrels - the driver's side not showing the slightest issue so far, but when/if it looks like going the same way, I'll have no option but to get the unfeasibly expensive complete replacement key system. A lot of the cost is the main dealer re-coding the ignition apparently. Really hope yours is ok soon if not done already.
  4. Had exactly the same spinny-lock issue with mine on driver side. After getting extortionately high quotes from main dealer, I swapped the driver and passenger lock barrels. Downside is I can't use the passenger side to unlock, but it saved the day. Two years on now with no further issues.
  5. Octy Mk11 1.9 Diesel - Engine warning light came on, OBD ii says P0401 EGR flow insufficient detected. Car has been going super well as usual and no issues at all. I've cancelled code for now and initial re-start didn't trigger it again - awaiting result on the 15 minute drive home later. Probably on another issue, the glow-plug symbol light keeps coming and going entirely at random and every single (boring) time I used the OBD ii there was no issue showing up. That started about -45 months ago, and I've been waiting for a more positive result but nowt! I have absolutely no idea what the light is saying. Don't really want to fork out a 2nd mortgage to get Richmond group (local Skoda dealers) to put it through a better test. Anyone know of a decent garage near Southampton West that could help? OR, any of you ladies and gents had a similar issue easily fixed?
  6. Hey chap. Had same problem with the 360 degree rotation syndrome on my Mk2 - only has mechanical locking and YES I successfully changed the RHS for the LHS mechanism. That was a couple of years ago and still working well. LHS as much use as a chocolate fireguard now and does not function at all, but hey ho if it's saved me hundreds on getting new lock barrels/keys/re-training the security protocols electronically etc. Think I've only bought myself some time, though, and at some point will have to bite the bullet and do it properly. Wasn't too difficult to take the barrels out and swap them round. Go for gold! Steve
  7. Hi Ferrogib. As I remember, I think I worked out which direction the pins had been installed and used a thin, broken screwdriver (no head, only the shaft) to drift them out. As I said, it didn't solve the problem completely - the spacer I fitted just helped to stop the spade end from retracting. I think I should have maybe used more spacers, but as the one I fitted made an improvement I left it alone. When the lock started skipping again a couple of months later, that's when I swapped the barrel for the passenger side just for speed of getting going again. I reckon your solution is better, although inconvenient with the extra key. I was thinking of doing the same thing. The issue which put me off using our Skoda main dealer was the high labour cost to not only fit the new barrels but the fact that it would involve the ignition barrel as well, then 'retraining' the car to recognise the new key. That was what they told me, anyway. There may be a less costly method, but yours is a good compromise.
  8. Hey dude. I have exactly same issue. Skoda main dealer no help as they can only sell you complete lock kits and they will need assimilating to your car once received and installed - around £300 odd a side as of a couple of years ago, so I took lock out myself. There are a couple of little pins holding the barrel together which I tapped out, disassembled the inside and made a spacer out of a split-ring 'shakeproof' washer as I thought it might help. This fixed it for a while certainly but not for long. After a couple of months it became difficult to unlock although easy to lock. I have a feeling that the main issue is with the assembly that the spade end of the lock barrel slides into, and I couldn't get to that inside the door. However, I swapped the lock barrel for the passenger side - instant relief! SO now I have wiggle capability on drivers side but the Passenger side is next to useless. Still going now a year since. Best of luck friend!
  9. Had to take headlamp out (fixing washer bottle issue) so I think the same thing has happened - filament broken but mends itself temporarily. Another bud of mine with a n Octy has the same issue.

  11. Update - Although the OS bulb tests ok with circuit tester it looked a bit heat damaged around the metal base, so swapped with new bulb and the high beam now goes on and stays on. I ordered a new pair so will swap both out together. I've never known a car do that before - shut of the remaining bulb! Weird. Thanks fellas Wurze
  12. Hi Warrior, As soon as it stops raining i'm going to check! Yes the pesky little 'bulb out' warning lamp came on a few days back - all bulbs everywhere all ok (as far is i could tell - didn't check to see if there's a glove box one to be honest) and it went off, came back some time mid-journeys, sometimes went off on its own mid journeys - no particular pattern. I think one of our Octy friends said that the warning bulb can come on even though all bulbs function OK - down to a resistance measurement issue indicating a 'just-about-to-fail-but-ok-right-now' status. Just noticed a string somewhere else about something called a BCM likely faulty but don't know if my model has one. Something else to find! I'll check bulbs first. Appreciate your help!
  13. Hi folks, Octavia MKii '55 plate - When switching to high beam, slight delay; LHS light cuts in but not RHS - then shuts off and goes to normal beams although the blue light stays on. Normally, High beam switch is INSTANT, so any ideas? IS it a relay or will changing the Main beam bulb fix it.? Ist a protection thing so that you can't run with just one high beam?Cheers, Wurze
  14. Found loads on EBay for less that £100 (main dealer replacement cost £204.60) so if I can't fix it I'll go there. I just hate wasting something that could probably be fixable with a bit of effort.
  15. ¹11111¹Hi folks, getting to know my 2006 Octy estate more, but when I got it the pull out cover was in place and it doesn't retract. Can't see how to remove the caps to rewind it. Any pointers?
  16. Hey Nic, Wasn't getting very far with Amazon so used ebay - loads on there. Best ones seem to come from Lithuania but i got uk based one. Oddly, there was one on there worse than mine and he wanted £20 for it!
