  1. Sorry if this is off topic, unsure if it’s related... Would this same issue be the cause of the boot not opening from the rubber button on the tailgate, but it will reliably open off the remote key (middle button)?
  2. Hi all - just to update I had the wrong size tyres changed out and it has appeared to fix the issue! Thanks for the input all.
  3. Don't know how I missed that when I bought it, but you're right! The rear (185/70/R14) has larger tyres than the front (185/60/R14)... Great shout regardless. They are the same size on each side, but different front to back. Is this likely to throw it out? Looks like the 185/60 is the right size which is annoying as the rear 2 are almost new. Thank you for this offer! I guess I need to get some new tyres ordered (probably need to do a full set as the fronts -correct size- only have 3mm left) and see how it goes first. I might come back to take you up on that offer if the issue persists though!
  4. I live in Witney but am regularly in the Abingdon area.
  5. Hi all Firstly, it's been a long time since I've been on here - hello all! I recently got a dog and as such, acquired a cheap and high mileage car suitable for wet, muddy hound ferrying in the form of a 2007 1.9TDi PD100 6Y Fabia Estate. For the most part, it seems to be OK, if not a bit wallowy and rattly which I cannot begrudge due to it's 160k mile odometer reading. However, when driving along a stretch of clear dual carriageway today, I noticed the following: While doing above ~60mph and accelerating, the ASR light flashes and the power you'd expect to feel isn't there (i.e. ASR is likely falsely detecting wheel slip and cutting power - this can be proven as when doing the same thing after disabling ASR via the dash button, the car pulls like normal). If you continue to try and accelerate up to higher speeds with 90-100% throttle inputs, then eventually a warning beep is heard and the dash lights up with several errors (below) and the speedo just drops completely to 0. Rev counter, fuel gauge, temp gauge and tell tale lights all continue to function as normal. Handbrake (!) light ASR light Engine management light I then noticed that at slower speeds (i.e. around 10mph) and under gentle braking, such that you might do while moving in traffic, the ABS will sometimes kick in for no discernible reason. I've plugged a very rudimentary OBD tool and got a P0600 code which seems to be a generic "ECU lost contact with an ancillary controller" error. Having been out of touch with these cars for so long, are these symptoms commonly found in older/higher mileage cars? As up to around 60mph the car drives exactly as it should, is there something along the lines of an ABS controller issue here? Or perhaps simple ABS/wheel speed sensors? Would a higher tech scan toll be able to help diagnose this further? Thank for the pointers.
  6. Does this mean that if you remove it, you'd have visible screw holes?
  7. Hi All Long time since last post! I'm fast approaching 130k miles and need to get the car booked in for a cambelt service. This is the first weekend I've commenced any research and won't be calling any garages until next week now. Before I do, does anyone have any idea on prices one would expect to pay for this? Any tips on dealers/indies in the Swindon area that are reliable, know their stuff and have reasonable rates? Car in question is 2010 Fabia Mk2 SE CR75 (Super chipped to 130). Thanks
  8. Hi all, had a quick search but could only find posts relating to resistor pack failures (which as an aside I already had to replace earlier this year). How easy is it to remove the cabin fan for a bit of reconditioning/replacement? Unfortunately on speed 1 or 2 the fan can be heard squeaking away which is rather frustrating! Any guide or pictures would be hugely helpful! Many thanks in advance, I'm hoping it isn't too involved such as taking the dash apart
  9. I would like for this to be the case, but since tuning boxes work by modifying parameters/signals already sent from the ECU, rather than actually changing the source. My thinking is that any derivative of a said engine will only ever see a percentile increase of original output. Hopefully I recieve a reply tomorrow and we can find out. As anyone with such a conservative "Powerplant" will know, I'm very keen to see an increase in drivability.
  10. Being 2010, my warranty is up so that doesn't concern me too much, but I can appreciate the potential issue for newer vehicles. At this point I think the biggest factor for me is if they can achieve the same gains from the 75 as can be had from the 105, as can be done with a remap. The more I research it however, the less likely it seems. I would like for this to be confirmed by an agent however, since with both option around the £300 mark, it'd be pointless to go for the option which will leave you about 30bhp down on the other. I have emil DTUK and am hoping to hear back tomorrow regarding this.
  11. Does anyone know if these boxes will, similarly to a remap, increase the output of all 1.6CR engines to the same level? I.e. 75PS, 90PS and 105PS to the circa 130PS quoted? Apologies if this has been answered, I'm not planning on reading all 15 pages! Thanks
  12. Hi All Having read a bit of info on here and DTUK website, it seems that these 2 channel units are a serious contender to a remap. I'm currently considering options in this department but would like a little more confidence before I leap into buying a tuning box which, historically, have always been inferior to a proper remap. So where do these differ? Price is pretty much exactly the same. It's DIY fitting which is a benefit. But subsequently leaves you with additional wiring and the box itself in the engine bay. Finally, since DTUK appear not to be open on Sundays, has anyone had the box fitted to a CR 75? Would the gains, like a remap, like be the same, irrespective of factory PS figure? Thank you
  13. Reviving an old thread I know, but where abouts are you located Eddie, would you consider doing this work on other member's vehicles? I would like to have this done on my 2010 (FL) Fabia SE once I have tracked down the parts. Clearly, having the setup fitted is the most difficult part so would be more than one step ahead if I found someone who could reliably fit this. Thanks
  14. For clarification, the trip computer stalk is on the wiper stalk which has the rocker switch on the end and the reset button on the underside?
  15. So this would give full functionality on a vehicle which left the factory without Maxidot? (i.e just the little calculator style screen)
  16. I wonder if they would look better on a lighter colour car? Maybe against white or silver paint?
  17. It's a shame the "C" isn't coloured dark red or tinted black etc.
  18. This is a possibility thanks, Sy. I read the kerbweight for the diesel is 1129kg, whereas the Vrs comes in at 1318kgs (owing to the box I assume). I guess that means it'll ride slightly stiffer than an equivilent Vrs hatch. Difference will probably be negligable though.
  19. Ah I see, it seems things have changed a bit in the last few years! Regarding the springs, would a set of OEM VRs springs be permissable on a 1.6 diesel? Are the kerb weights very different off the top of anyone's head?
  20. That's excellent news, thanks for the insight guys. I had assumed that the different output 1600s used different turbos etc as with the old 1900s. Somewhere I have a Shark STS unit in hiding for an old PD150 Leon I had, is it safe to assume that this would also work with the 1.6CR?
  21. Hi all It's been a long time since I had my old Octavia and hence, a long time since I've been on Briskoda! It's good to see the community looks as active as ever! I will soon be coming into ownership of a family owned 2010 1.6CR TDI Fabia SE 75ps. Obviously, this will likely fail to excite in the long run. As such, i'm just doing the normal digging to see what can be done within reason to help the car appeal. Does anyone have any experience with the variety of lowering sets available on eBay e.g... (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-FABIA-Mk2-5J-2010-1-6-TDi-F25-R15mm-PI-LOWERING-SPRINGS-/251131358619?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a78986d9b) Or with remapping such a low powered engine? (Is it worth it at all?) Thanks
  22. Still got this, open to offers in the region of £1500. Give us a try!
  23. Hi all. Going on eBay with a starting price of £1500. No reserve from there. Attach link when the advert is live.
  24. Not as of yet. Guess it is a bit of a niche vehicle! I shall give it a bit longer before venturing onto ebay/auto trader etc. See what joy I get on there
  25. Bump, price dropped to reflect the market.
