  1. Hi @J.R. Thanks for your reply and your offer of any help, although you are a fair distance from chez nous. Been busy as we are moving back to Cornwall from Deux-Sèvres. The OBD11 didn't pick up the error code which is why I went to our local mechanic. Shame cos if it had it probably would have cleared it. My partner has the wiring sorted so hopefully it will have resolved the issue. I will find out soon when I visit the mechanic!
  2. Good afternoon from very hot and sunny France. An 'Error airbag' message appeared several weeks ago on my Superb. I took it to a local mechanic who ran the diagnostics and advised me it's a crash sensor on the drivers side that has been activated and to look at the door and where the wires run through it. The error code is 01221. When I look this up on my OBD eleven it is the crash sensor in the driver's side door. My partner investigated where the wires run through the door and he found a purple/white wire and a green wire that were broken. He has repaired them by soldering them. The error code remains - well we didn't expect it to just disappear - when I run the OBD eleven (basic) it doesn't show any errors. Before I contact the mechanic to run the diagnostics again is there anything else we should do? Does anyone know what the two wires relate to? Thank you in advance for any replies and advice.
  3. Well yesterday I drove about 60 miles. When I left home the bulb light came on on the dash. I checked when I got home and one of the front driving lights was out. OH replaced the bulb and was going to take the car to the local garage to check why the engine management light was on. When he restarted the car heyho the bulb light and the engine management light had both gone out.
  4. Yes the job was much cheaper than originally quoted which was 2,500/3,000€. Ended up just under 800€. I never use cruise control. The car was full of diesel when it was left at the garage.
  5. Hoping I can post a link here for the features of the OBD11. https://obdeleven.com/en/apps-and-features I have the basic.
  6. Sorry yes it says émetteur which was slightly more expensive than the récepteur. I was told by the garage that they replaced both due to the mileage being so high.
  7. Not sure about interrogating individual control modules. I will have to get OH to have a look, although I'm not sure he will have any more idea than me! He's not technically minded. Unfortunately Bergerac is a bit of a trek as we're in North Deux-Sèvres.
  8. Good evening My Superb continues to give me grief! It has just gone over 180,000 miles so maybe it has reason. I digress. On my way home from the UK my clutch went as I arrived at the ferry port. My car was put onboard and off again on arrival in France. My breakdown towed me to their garage. They wouldn't repair it. Long story short it was taken to Skoda. Two parts of the clutch were replaced - the récepteur and immiteur which translate as clutch slave and clutch release. Went to pick up car which was over 400kms from where I live. Drove it home with no problems. Today I drove about 10kms, parked up and when I went to drive away the engine management light had come on. I drove home, light stayed on, car drove ok. I have an OBD eleven so plugged that in and scanned for errors - none showed up. The light is still on. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Oops should have updated my post. I contacted Auto Tech Direct who suggested that I try plugging the USB device directly into the back of the unit. So got my OH to unscrew it so that I could access the USB ports. I had the lead plugged into the bottom of the three ports so tried this one first - nothing. Tried the other two and they both work (at the moment!!). I had purchased another USB extension lead at the massive cost of 50 centimes in a local end of line shop so plugged this into one port and the lead that came with the unit in the other one, but nothing in the bottom one. These both work and will hopefully continue to do so. The opposite door thing is fixable by going into settings - I would need to check the exact route to get there, which settings etc. and you need a code to get in which is 3368. If you need me to look let me know.
  10. @Nathaniosorry to be a pain, but hoping you can help. I have been playing music downloaded on a USB plugged into the new head unit with the supplied cable. OK for two days, but when I got back in the car today no music and USB not showing on the Music tab. I've tried a different USB and an MP3, but no device showing and therefore no music. I have plugged my phone into the cable and it charges so obviously the USB cable is ok. Any ideas? Thanks
  11. Here I am again with more questions!! The chap who could remove the airbag error code is away, not sure when he will return to sunny France. I know nothing about how to buy or use a suitable Carista or VCDS system. So some expertly and simply explained advice would be useful. Alternatively I will be in Cornwall later this month - are there any members living in the beautiful Cornish countryside who could offer assistance or suggest anyone who could remove the offending error code?
  12. Thank you @Nathanio I have changed the door setting. There is someone nearby who should have the necessary equipment to remove the error code.
  13. OK so a couple of things to sort out. I'm hoping @Nathaniocan help with one. The head unit screen shows the passenger door is open when it's the driver's door that's open. Is this an easy fix? The second thing is that I now have an error warning for the airbag. Can anyone advise how to clear this?
  14. Having taken the non working heat unit out we had a look at repairing it, but we're a bit stumped 🤔. Neither of us at that technically minded. So we fitted the unit I purchased when I was in the UK. All seems to be ok so far, radio, Bluetooth and WiFi all working.
