  1. Thank you Thank you. Can I ask why you say 'get it down now'. It was done in 2021. Does it really need doing again only 2 years later?
  2. I'll check with Skoda tomorrow but in the meantime I wondered if someone might be able to clarify. My car has just been serviced today and on the note it says due for cambelt replacement. My car is 5 years old. I thought I read that Skoda had now removed the time requirement and it was mileage based? My car is only 29,000 miles. My mileage is pretty low. And I've never reached 100,000. So can I ignore this advice? I don't want to put my car at risk but don't want to get anything unnecessary done. I'm already facing a £1,500 bill for 4 new tyres (2 front ones down to 3mm and rear still at 5mm but cracking and perishing, and front and read brake pad and disc replacement as they are apparently down to 10% and 15%. Also any confirmation about when I need the Haldex replacing too please? I think I need it doing next year? Is it every 3 years? I'm hoping this is now mileage related only! But probably now. Thank you
  3. Thank you for the replies. I'm not sure why they can't just be a little clearer. I'm guessing it will be ok from what I've read.
  4. Sorry if this has been asked but I couldn't find a simple answer. I've just topped up my Kodiaq's screenwash for the first time (using B&Q's Diall Ready to Use Screenwash), I'm sure it's fine but I've since realised that in the Kodiaq owner's manual it says 'If the vehicle is equipped with a headlight cleaning system, then only use windscreen washer fluid types that do not attack the polycarbonate coating of the headlights - otherwise there is a risk of damage to headlights'. It doesn't say what 'type' of fluids would cause this damage, and neither does the screenwash say what's in it. So I'm a bit stumped as Google isn't being particularly helpful either. I'm hoping that in this day and age there would be some 'warning' on the label of the bottle if it was Not suitable for cleaning polycarbonate coated lights so hopefully all is fine but I was wondering if someone may be able to reassure me. Thank you
  5. Thanks all. Just to update, I had it replaced today under the dealer's warranty. What a difference. I hadn't realised quite how bad it had got but the past few days it was worse than ever and think it was on the verge of failing. Even the person who collected my car couldn't start it! So I'm glad I didn't delay it further especially as there's a shortage of this part currently (I wonder why!!).
  6. Sorry one more question. Mine is a 2018 plate. I'm guessing this is out of warrranty now?
  7. Thanks very much for your replies. I'll get this looked at. Thank you
  8. Hi, sorry to clarify, nothing happens at all.
  9. My Engine stop start button seems quite temperamental. It always works (so far) but thought I’d see if anyone has any ideas (I’ve read previous posts where it turned out NOT to be the stop start button). Firstly I tried changing the battery and using the spare key. This didn’t seem to make much difference which made me think it wasn’t the key/battery. BUT at times the range of my lock/unlock on the key is also a bit temperamental and I have to be very close to the car for that to work. But would both keys have an issue? Sometimes it start first time, some times it takes a few goes but I can always get the car to start either by using a firmer press, or by doing a circular motion around the Engine stop/start button. I don’t want to spend unnecessary amounts at the garage so wondered if anyone might have any ideas. Should I just try new batteries again and the spare key again to be sure? And then perhaps get the Engine stop/start button replaced at my local garage? I think this is quite simple therefore cheap to do? (not by me though!) It's been like it for a while. I've no problem if it stays this way but I'm worried it will be worse or one day it may fail to start at all. Or if someone else tries to drive it (with my permission) they may struggle to start it. Thanks in advance
  10. Component protection is designed to prevent (deter) people from stealing head units. Each unit is coded to a particular vehicle and this message will come up if a head unit has been put in a different vehicle. But sometimes these highly computerised cars just like to do random things at random times for no apparent reason before reverting back to normal 😄
  11. Helpful to know thank you. Fortunately all is working fine for now
  12. Thank you. Sadly out of warranty or I'd be straight on to Skoda. I'm not even bothering to contact them to ask about it as experience tells me their response will be the usual 'take to your nearest Skoda' dealer to which I will be told they can't do anything since it's working ok now! Hopefully this was a once off glitch!
  13. Yes I did that too. It didn't seem to do anything. I was home 10 minutes later though. And fortunately it was working again 30 mins later. I guess it did do a reboot? I'm more concerned about whether anyone has experienced this and what caused it
  14. Has anyone else experienced their Infotainment Columbus 9'2 'crashing' at all? (see pics/vid). Fortunately this corrected itself eventually but my Infotainment Centre seemed to 'crash' today when I was pressing the screen and trying to enter an address for Navigation. The screen basically just went black but with a narrow line (about 1cm wide) across it. Stopping and starting the engine and turning the screen off and on didn't work so I was panicking that it had completely died. But fortunately it just started working again 30 minutes later when I used the car. Note: The screen itself was fine as the reverse camera kicked in when I used it, but it then reverted to the blank screen with line when driving off. Also the infotainment itself was fine as the radio was still playing. But I just couldn't control it as it wasn't responsive at all. It's almost like it needed to reboot or something. It couldn't cope with the buttons being pressed? A bit like a laptop restarting/rebooting or something after it has crashed? 20220623_075521_1.mp4
