Quite a catalogue of problems! Thanks for the info. DQ250 for the win!

I don't know who drove the car at either road test. My dad has never noticed a problem but acknowledges it doesn't creep...after that was pointed out, he doesn't find that an issue. He's a very mechanically sympathetic driver but observant of issues and says it drives fine, save the mild snatchiness at parking speed, which was present from new and common across other dsg boxes I've experienced. It's smooth as silk on the road, he regularly drives it up decent hills and has never noticed any slip. I wonder if JKM just gave it a bit more than he normally does and the increased load revealed some slip....but then you'd think the main dealer test drive...where they were specifically looking to diagnose gearbox issues would highlight slippage if present. Bizarre! I don't think anything was reset...just scanned for codes and a road test.

Thanks, yes that's what I thought and inline with JKMs assessment, I too have only ever experienced very good service from them, through friends and several family members. I trust them over and above the main dealers, we had to get an official Skoda diagnosis to move forward with Skoda UK. Can't help wondering if they have given it all the all clear for fear of us taking it further.

I've done some googling since I posted. The universal theory is that a DSG should creep....but plenty don't. I understand this creep doesn't come about in the same way as a conventional auto but it is there by way of convention, be it a very low first gear or otherwise generated i.e. pseudo creep.

So....bit of an update... Took the car to a main dealer yesterday for diagnosis. They had the car most of the day...and declared there isn't an issue. No fault codes and no apparent faults on road test. I know the car doesn't creep in drive... should it..... JKM pointed that out...surely Skoda should have picked that up.... or shouldn't it creep in drive... I'm confused......!

Yes that's the JKM, they are specialists in all things VAG, maybe not Škoda approved though. Only ever had very positive dealings with them. The car is getting booked in at a main agent..for diagnosis as suggested...watch this space 😆

I think we will get it booked in with Skoda and push for assistance...if and when the diagnosis materialises. Any idea what sort of cost we're looking at for full diagnostics?

Yes that's the one, Deacon Graham. Just had a 2nd reply from him after I asked him to escalate. The car is still being driven by my Dad, he doesn't overly have an issue with it. It was diagnosed by JKM, I don't know why both the mechatronics unit and the clutch plates are suspected...unless the failure of one has led to the failure of the other. Deacon's response is still very much...."it's out of warranty 18 months ago, not our responsibility". However he has also said the following which is not completely negative.... "To set your expectations, a Customer Relations Manager will also advise you that the vehicle will need to go into a ŠKODA Retailer for a full diagnostics. Outside of warranty, we are unable to directly offer support towards repairs, this is to the discretion and empowerment of the ŠKODA Retailer Network, however a full diagnostics is required and support can not be guaranteed."

I was dealing originally with someone called Sana, who made some positive noises. Then I got a short reply from someone called Deacon who is a customer relations advisor saying they are prepared to do precisely nothing because there is no issue from their perspective... The denial...Its utterly infuriating. They rubbished "anything you read on a forum" straightaway....(what would actual customers with real painful experiences and big bills know about these things eh.....!)

OK...so I went straight to Škoda UK with the issue. I initially had a positive response, saying they would speak to the specialist regarding the diagnosis and asked me what my expectations for resolution were. Subsequently I've had a short and sharp reply back saying, there are no known issues and that diagnosis and repair are the owners problem because its out of warranty. They've offered no explanation of why a "sealed for life" dsg unit has expired in 33k miles and flatly deny there is any issue with DQ200 gearboxes. It's beyond disappointing and has totally changed my view of the brand.

It was serviced at the main dealer for the first 2 or 3 years. Then by a skoda specialist once out of warranty. My Dad is unaware of any updates being applied...buy that could just be lack of communication. We will speak with the main dealer who supplied and serviced it on Monday. Thanks again.

Thank you both for your replies. I will check with my Dad what updates if any the car has had. It was not a main dealer but a skoda specialist who I'm pretty sure have a good reputation. Reference the TPI...how do I approach that, ask a main dealer about it? The car is now approaching 5 years old....can we expect some kind of financial assistance from Skoda even though its out of warranty if substantial work is required?

Hi, I'm here on behalf of my dad, who has a 2017 1.2 DSG Yeti with a mere 33k miles on it. He's just been told at a recent service that there is an issue (he was unaware) with the DSG. Apparently he has slipping clutch and a harsh change. The garage has advised a new mechatronics unit and replacement clutch pack. Obviously the cost of this is massive and we're both shocked and disappointed on a low milage, full history car. Having now googled it to death..I see its common on the DQ200 gearboxes... pretty poor. My question is, any thoughts on the above, advice etc We are based in Portsmouth area. Can anyone recommend a dsg specialist. I can see plenty on Google...but a recommendation would help massively. Any advice massively appreciated.
