  1. I checked the fluid level afterwards and it was a little high, I syringed the excess out but that was a long time ago. Yeah the light remained on after the pump was changed, also he said the diagnosis threw up 8 different fault codes, one of which was the sensor. He said he thinks the sensor is the reason for all of the codes and they should all go once its changed. Side note, it's got to the point where I'm not sure I want to continue with this car as there's been a few issues in the past that have been frustrating repairs. So I'm not sure if I should have it repaired and just move it on, although the mot has run out also so that's a bit of a hurdle with selling
  2. Hi guys, I posted about a year ago about some PAS issues I had after presumably my dead battery caused havoc on the PAS. For context the initial diagnosis indicated "no communication from the power steering module", which lead me to following the advice of a recommended auto electrician by changing the pump. I brought it to a local mechanic who said he could source a pump from a recently broken fabia for £300. After replacing the pump the steering is still not working but now in a different way, it's still heavy but not as heavy as before, and if I turn the wheel fast (such as for a 3 point turn) the steering becomes extremely stiff. After months of silence from the mechanic he's finally looked at it again and now says the steering angle sensor needs replacing and wants £220. I'm not sure if I should trust this so anybody with advice that could ease my concerns would be greatly appreciated
  3. Update: I've managed to get someone round to scan the fault. So we're looking at a possible power steering control module as it wasn't getting any feedback from it, but without access to it I don't know for sure. Do we need to get the car up to access it or is there another way? Could it be faulty wiring instead?
  4. Yeah sounds good to me, thanks for the suggestion 👌🏻
  5. The green covers don't clip open so will have to figure out how they're secured when I'm next free. The test light responds though Yeah the battery symbol disappears once the engine is running
  6. Aside from the steering light, the rest have been a regular feature on my dash. I've tried two different obd2 scanners and neither of them discovered any fault codes (although they both appeared to connect), they worked on another car so this makes the situation a lot more annoying than it should be as it sounds like there's a separate issue there. I've also uploaded with the fuse panel on top of the battery, it looks pretty grim but wouldn't know myself what issues this would cause
  7. I changed the battery about 2 weeks ago since it needed changing anyway. It appeared to have solved it until 4/5 days later the light came back on again. Only now its on every time I start the car up as opposed to half the time previously! Hopefully that's just coincidence
  8. Yeah fair point both of you. I also wonder if it wasn't initially a steering rack issue and if it is the problem now, if it manifested whilst driving an already wounded car. Although they didn't mention discovering any other faults that would have led up to that 🤔
  9. Hi guys. My steering light has been on/off for about 4 weeks now. Each time the light is on the steering becomes heavy, but when it's not on the steering is back to normal again. The light would come on about 50% of the time I start the car. Until a week ago, now its on every time I start the car. After various false hopes I've decided to bring the car into the garage. They've told me it might be a problem with the steering rack, which is something they don't have the equipment to deal with. After a quick Google, some sites are saying to expect it to be at least £400 depending on the manufacturer. Has anyone here had to replace/repair the steering rack on a fabia 2? And if so how much did it cost? And was that a garage quote or a self repair cost?
  10. Update: The replacement reader didn't show anything either. So with that I took it to my local garage (the first and only one I feel comfortable taking it to without being overpriced. They said the steering fault might be an issue with the steering rack, something they don't have the equipment to deal with themselves. After a quick Google this doesn't sound like very good news price wise, especially when the mileage is only about 65000 I'll post this in a new thread in the hope it gains the attention of people with interest in this latest issue rather than and obd2 reader. Your input has been really useful guys, I really appreciate it. Please continue to give support if you have any more insight

  12. I initially used it to diagnose the engine light which diagnosed the Cat fault so I was happy to use it on the Skoda, but it hasn't diagnosed a thing on the Skoda at all. Looked online and apparently this particular reader is prone to being a clone of a previous reader which isn't as compatible as advertised. I've decided to just buy a different one as I didn't exactly break the bank for this. Fingers crossed it works and diagnoses a cheap fix that I can get stuck into
  13. I've only just started to use the scanner. FYI I'm a novice, the extent of my experience is home servicing. Only other time I used the scanner was last week on the Micra which was related to the Catalytic Converter. Although the apps do check for power steering faults too so am I right in assuming that would still highlight the Fabias fault? Thanks in advance, I know it's annoying sometimes explaining things to a noob
  14. Hi guys, this is my first post (thanks for having me on). Has anyone used, and had problems with the cheap Streetwize OBD2 code reader from Euros? It doesn't offer up any fault codes whilst the steering warning light is present. I've used it on my partner's Micra and it works every time. Apps I used were Torque, Car Scanner (and another but can't ever the name). Not sure if this is common with the car or the reader
