  1. Hi folks, I am looking for a means of listening to itunes in our MkI Fabia Vrs. Other than speaking to the main dealers, does anyone have tips for hooking up an ipod or iphone? Thanks in advance for any help. Cheers Gordon
  2. I had what sounds like exactly the same problem on both rear tyres - fitted with Avon ZZ3. They ended up looking like a 50p when viewed from the inner side, very unevenly worn. The noise drove me crazy! Garage said it must have been a duff set of tyres that had been stored incorrectly so had become out of shape but took that with a pinch of salt. Got P-Zero Neros on now and thankfully not had a problem yet. Unlikely to fix the problem for you but thats what I was told! GC
  3. Hi Guys, Some nice lookng wheels there! After seeing Doll and Ad Labs wheels I'm sold on uprating to the Octavia Vrs Mk1 alloys, they look sweet (like them on the Fabia too). So, the search for them now begins...!! :wonder:
  4. Hello all, Looking for some advice/views/opinions. Had the Fabia Vrs for 4 years now and unfortunately the alloys are now looking shabby and a bit 'bubbled'. Thinking of having them repaired with a powder coat job at the wheel specialists but trying a different colour just for a change - black or anthracite are the current leaders. The car is black and on standard rims - has anyone had this done, and if so are you happy with it? Any pics of how it looks? Cheers Gordon
  5. You've just in one go sorted my rear seat rattle that has been doing my head in for the last 3 years! Result, cheers.
  6. Hi Guys, Same issue here - I've had all door seals replaced under warranty. Then when those leaked after a few months the garage replaced the replacements foc. However, I've noticed recently I'm getting really bad condensation in the back windows and the off-side rear door is freezing solid overnight and can't be opened in the morning. Turns out there are streams of water freezing in the door sill thats causing it. Unfortunately, I'm not well skilled at swinging a spanner so haven't had a go at putting in a fix (plus, if the truth be told, i'm lazy). Anyone know if I can get a garage to sort this without charging for replacement seals which aren't doing the job? Cheers GC
  7. Folks, I know this thread as been inactive for a while, but I used a place in Castleford recently to repair some horrendious kerb damage. The mrs was responsible for the damage of course *cough*. Trevor @ Midas Touch Unit 2, Cinder Lane Castleford WF10 1LU Tel: 01977 604040 £45 for powder coating along with tyre removal, fitment and balancing. I only had one wheel done and while t isn't an exact colour match it is a really good finish. Gordon
  8. A few months back I was fortunate enough to find myself behind an ancient burgandy coloured Ford Orion Estate, which had 4x4, Turbo, and Cosworth badges on the back, complimented by a picnic table spoiler on the top and a huge bore exhaust fitted where the back bumper had been cut away with a hacksaw to accomodate it. I'll see if I can find the picture I took at the time, it was almost ethereal.
  9. I have a 55 plate Vrs. Offside rear door leaked for the first time in July 07. Fixed at the time under warranty by DM Keith (Leeds) who replaced all 4 door seals; problem solved. Noticed in the last couple of months that the back windows were steaming up regularly, which I assumed was down to crap weather. Was hoovering out the back seats at the weekend and noticed the off side footwell had a puddle of water and door seal was like a sponge again. Lucky I noticed 1 months after the warranty expired... (sarcasm doesn't come across clearly in writing does it) ... so DM Keith are going to have a look at it in the new year. I await confirmation of a bill!
  10. Folks, Looking for a bit of advice on the cost of servicing. I bought my Fab vrs at 7k miles from a main dealer who serviced the car before I picked it up. I then had it serviced by DM Keith in Leeds at 17k miles 8 months later (Oct 07) and it cost £145. I don't know what type of service it was, as in fairness I was a bit slack on that front. I just dropped it off and said "service please" and they did the rest. Its now done 27k miles so planning on having it serviced next week. Called to book it in and they said "which service do you want? 40k miles service which will be £250+, or an annual service which will be £150". Can anyone advise on that the difference will be, and what you get for your extra 100 nicker? I'm ok paying the extra if you get something tabgible for it, but could do with knowing what that is! Cheers
  11. Hey guys, Not sure how much help this will be, but could try calling Graeme at Ashley Insurance Brokers on 01785 214444. I'm 26 with 2 years NCD and the best deal I found on the internet was £800. Called Graeme and he did me a deal through AXA at £550 for my standard 55 plate vrs.
  12. Hey guys, I have a 55 plate Fabia vrs which suffered from a leaking OSR door seal around 6 months ago, resulting in the door surround filling with water and running down into the carpet. Took it to the dealer (DM Keith - Leeds) who noted it as a common fault and replaced all door seals with out a fuss. Job done.... ...however in the last 6-8 weeks all the windows have been filling with condensation whenever the is a hint of rain in the air. The windscreen, front and boot windows all clear with a heavy dose of hot air but the condensation on the rear windows will not budge. I've had a quick look around and can't find any evidence to suggest the doors are leaking, but the problem is getting so bad that mould is starting to form around the bottom of the rear windows, which doesn't seem like a good sign to me! Any ideas? Or is it yet another trip to the dealer? :(
  13. After all the hassle, niggling faults and ineffective service from the dealers, yes part of me is starting to regret buying my vrs. Had it 5 months and the creaking drivers seat when I go round corners, rattling rear seats (leather), rattling glove box, rattling speedo cover, corroded wheels, leaking door seals and now a dealer who managed to lose my frigging service book (DM Keith, Leeds) i'm not sure how much more I can take! Please tell me it'll get better!
  14. Tried my best to buy from these guys but just couldn't get them to sell me a car! Approached them looking for Fabia vrs. Got a test drive but was left waiting 30 minutes after it (while on lunch from work!) and when I chased them up they said they were "running some figures" and would call me. A week later, no call. Called them 3 times and each time told I would get a call back. I went to Bickertons and did a deal on the day (see other post for how that turned out!) DM Keith eventually called at 7:00pm on the last Friday of the month (a month later) and told me they thought they could do me a deal there and then. Sales, very poor. The service however has been better, nothing has been too much bother. Reported a leaking door seal and within 2 days I had a couresy car and all 4 door seals were replace. Will use them again for service.
  15. Hi folks, I'm new to this site so unlikely to be recognised! I bought my Fabia vrs from Bickertons in February this year and, while I can't praise the garage highly enough for friendly and positive attitude, they just haven't been able to get things right for me. When signing I was told the amount I would be paying and that the DD payment date could be moved as and when, yet once I had signing the paperwork I found the payment stated on the finance document more than the sales order. I was also then told it would be £30 to change the DD date, oh, and that there had been a £100 documention fee added to my finance. All of which I was never told! They refunded all over payments after I wrote to them which was really pleasing. However, the car is a 55 plate and had done 7k miles when bought it from them, yet: - rattle from backseat. This I noted on the test drive and was told it was the test plate. Not so. - rattle from glovebox, as above. - rattle from speedo-cover when around 2k revs - all wheels corroded on (clearly never been removed yet Bickertons stamped service book as having been serviced at 7k, how if the wheels have never been off??) - car pulling to the left, and again 2 weeks after resolved. I've been back to them 6 times in total and each time they have been very helpful and friendly, yet they have never got to the bottom of the problems. I eventually went to DM Keith (Leeds) who sorted the back seat after 1 visit. The glovebox rattle has never been sorted although Bickertons told me twice they were ordering a part and I needed to come back. Booked in twice to do this yet both times no part had been ordered. The wheels were removed and corrosion sorted during one of the visits. Speedo cover rattle never resolved. Pulling to the left issue resolved but came back. Resolved again and has not come back (touch wood!). Overall its a really friendly place and salespeople really helpful, but the whole experience was soured by just not getting their act together sorting all these little niggles. Maybe I have just been unlucky as others I spoke with in the garage said they had a great reputation! EDIT Offside back door has now started leaking too. All of the above has happened in 4 months of ownership. Won't be going back. Gordon
