  1. The one indicated is the loose one & quite sure it's not touching the screen but not sure if it matters, the other long line is one of the heating lines. Ewan
  2. In photo you can see terminal near window, that's the positive you can see better
  3. Hi. I wondering if anyone knows or has a picture of the rear window terminals, I'm assuming the terminal/s have to touch the window. I am getting 12v where the wires connect to the window heater circuit but the wire or what ever touches the heater circuit is quite loose the positive+ end moving more than the negative side so I'm thinking the positive bit is not touching the window or does it not matter. I have never seen a rear window out so not sure how it looks also when moving the terminal a wee bit on the circuit you can see wee sparks to show its making contact with the black circuit I assume. Thanks for any info. Wanting to fix a few lines but not sure if power going through the circuit. Ewan
  4. Hi, did you just put altimeter on to the 2 wires on left hand side of the rear window heater with ignition on to see if you were getting 12v there. As was trying to repair some broken lines on my window but window seems cold now. Fuse ok & heater switch light is on. Thanks for any info.
  5. Thanks, Carlston. Will have to look out a photo of a wheel I already have on the car as was only going to maybe replace 1 wheel but might get 2. Will see if I can get similar to what I have then see what matches what you have said. Thanks Ewan
  6. Hi, found them sizes for the car wheels so will just have to wait till l get ashore but will keep looking for wheel less than £50 quoted from scrappy. Thanks Ewan
  7. Hi, thanks warrior. Knew about the pcd but not the centre bore. I'm at sea just now so will just have to measure up when I see the wheels. Thanks Ewan
  8. Hi I'm wondering if a seat Ibiza or a golf 14" wheel will fit my Octavia SDI MK1, I think they should. They are 5 stud wheels also. Still have the original wheels on & thinking 1 is getting ropey. Thanks Ewan Thanks
  9. Thanks Boris, will open up one of the motors see if there is much dirt in one of the locks I'm using for spare parts. I have been putting window down then trying to push panel off from the top of door then down the sides so the clips come off from panel to door to get at the lock then just braking lock so I can get door open to replace lock.
  10. I could not get rear door open, I have the lock replaced now, the 8 pin one will do as a spare for if/when the front lock goes. The 8 pin and 6 pin connector are different anyway so would not have worked anyway. Thanks again
  11. Hi I'm just wondering if you can change a door lock actuator from a 8 pin to a 6 pin as my spare one is a 8 pin 🤬. Have ordered a 6 pin so just wondering if to try to change spare to a 6 pin & keep as a spare. Thanks Ewan
  12. Thanks, Billwin. I was going to say a few days ago that I got it open, I just opened up all the wee side screws, took of the spring on your 5th photo and open the 2 wee catches on the side and you can wiggle it out with a wee upp ward side way twist. It was to replace the whole red mechanical bit in your 1st photo I was doing. Also had 2 others I was going to make into one unit. Thanks again Ewan
  13. Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows how to open up the actual mechanism. I have taken out all the casing screws and a retaining spring which is near the outer door handle side of the actuator. It's nearly wanting to come out but something stopping it from the inside. Model number of the actuator is PA6.6 gf 30. I'm wanting to open it up to replace a part from an old one I have to make into one working unit and will just be a spare. Thanks Ewan
  14. I thought the subframe would just line up anyway with holes for everything but will paint around it to give me a guide. I will replace subframe just now as that is the main job I want done and can replace other parts when I get them and see what subframe job is like, it's just to get mot done just now and if it passes will do the rest including timing belt 😞 thanks for the help and information ewan
  15. Hi OK, I thought they might be a couple of things attached to it but not as much as that. Is it just a case of unbolting the suspension arms steering rack, anti roll bar and lower engine mount (dog bone) and letting them hang for few minutes until you fit the new subframe on. I'm at sea just now so after as much info as possible to see if I can do it myself and maybe a mate to help if I get stuck but not to bad at fixing things. Thanks Ewan I had this reply typed out earlier as only have 90 min of Internet so just read the other replies, thanks for info will read later.
  16. Hi I have a soda octavia Sdi mk1, 02 reg and have got a golf mk 4 subframe. Q, will it just be a case of undoing the 5/6 bolts that hold the subframe on and replacing it with the golf subframe with bushes. Know it won't happen like that and will take a few hours. Mot in a month time. Thanks Ewan
