Turbo / Supercharger upgrade
Just a quick update, for anybody that has helped me here and may be interested. I went for a 2017 Volvo V40 T5. As new, mint inside and out with only 21k on the clock. The leather seats look like they haven't been sat on. Cheaper insurance than the Fabia vRS too, which surprised me, given the larger engine, all wheel drive and 245bhp. Thanks again to everyone.

Just sold it. Thanks everyone for the advice over the past few weeks. Really appreciate it.

Turbo / Supercharger upgrade
I rushed into this purchase. But the test drive made me weak at the knees. It's so much fun, really quick, and there's plenty of room for my fishing tackle. I turned 51 years old a couple of days ago. I want to be wrapped in leather and luxury. So, I'm looking at a BMW 430d, 435d, or an Audi S3. Maybe a Mazda 3 or 6 or maybe a Volvo V40. I'm fortunate that I'm in a position to buy whatever I like without selling the Fabia, but I don't really want to own two cars. I've spent over a grand on my vRS since I bought it in April. £480 on Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres, £300 on new wishbones and £300 on a new drivers seat belt(fitted by Skoda Stockport). It's for sale on ebay for £5575. I'll be losing a few quid as I'm into it for £5700. But that's ok. I'll happily accept £5500.

Ah yeah, I know the movie. Attention span and distraction have hit again. I'm now looking at an Audi S3. I really appreciate all the advice I've had here.

This is a complete 180, but I may be selling my vRS as the aforementioned BMW 435d is now a distinct possibility, and I don't need two vehicles. Is Autotrader the best bet or is there something more specialised?

The remaps were done (to Stage 1) by a company in Stockport. A larger intercooler and cat-back exhaust have been fitted.

Thanks all for the input. Most, if not all of these recent comments, go way over my head. Should I just go with RTMG? I sent them a message yesterday and am looking forward to their reply.

Turbo / Supercharger upgrade
I absolutely could do that. I've been looking at a BMW 435d. Super quick, lovely looking and a nice place to be. But that's not the point with this vRS. It's a toy. A bit of a project. Something to have a bit of fun with. I could chuck 20 grand at the BMW and job done. I could also throw a few grand at the Fabia and have a laugh.

Thank you. Will give them a call.

Turbo / Supercharger upgrade
Any advice on a turbo upgrade for my mk2 Fabia 1.4 vRS? Do I have any options? Engine and DSG have both had a remap. Can the turbo and/or supercharger be upgraded? What's the next upgrade step? Thanks.

Advice appreciated on a suspension kit for my mk2 vRS estate
To be fair, Mick, it looks like I will be spending over a grand. I will be buying this for the suspension - https://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/car-parts/skoda/fabia/st-30mm-springs-shocks-suspension-kitfabia-5j-20102015-14tsi-vrs And I also want some new wheels. Looking at these - https://www.lkperformance.co.uk/wheels/romac/15650-venom-black-with-polished-face?vehicle=1201&inventory_id=1021705 It may still be a harsh ride but I'm all in now. Going to keep this vRS and make it mint. Are there any wheels that you'd recommend?

Advice appreciated on a suspension kit for my mk2 vRS estate
There are a couple of things that have been done that I would not have done. 1. Lowered too much. I will fix this. 2. Obnoxious cat-back exhaust. Too noisy. I'm 50 years old, not 20. Has to go. The good news is, I will rectify these poor "upgrade" choices and sort the motor. I really enjoy this vRS and am happy to spend a few quid to make it right for me. Probably won't get it back if and when I sell it. But who cares. I'm going to make this a great car.

Yes it is. That's what I'd like to fix. I want to undo the awful lowering. Get things back up a bit. The car has been well looked after by the previous owner.

Well I wish that told the whole story. I've spent a grand already on wishbones and a new drivers seat belt and tyres. To be fair, I could have just purchased two new tyres for the rear but I went for it and bought a set of 4 Michelin Pilot Sport 5's for £480. I'm all in now. I'll turn this into a proper specimen!! Why not though, hey. Going to have fun with it !! I've spoken to my local garage. They're going to sort the suspension. Then I'm going to sort the exhaust and then I think I'll buy some new wheels.

25mm lower than standard. We're going back up.

That's what I'll do, I think. My local garage is only a few hundred yards away and they'll sort it.

Of course I can. But I wouldn't know what I'm looking for with dampers and springs. I'll get somebody to sort that for me, the same as people come to me for IT support.

I'll, pay the 5 or 6 hundred or more if needed, plus the labour. The cost isn't an issue, really.

Mate, I'm not able to do that. I can install you a home cinema system and build you a custom PC, but I've never really got under the bonnet of my cars. Out of interest, where did you find the photos of the motor? I prefer the rear lights in the pics you provided. It seems someone has sprayed them to make them darker. And also changed the badges at the rear. It seems that I'm now on a mission to undo a few years of "good intentions". Next will be replacing the obnoxious cat-back exhaust.

Thanks for the reply, roottoot. A previous owner has lowered it and I'd like to fix it. Not quite so low and a better ride. I'm quite happy to start from scratch. Luckily, my local garage are really helpful so they should be able to confirm the current set up. Thanks.

Advice appreciated on a suspension kit for my mk2 vRS estate
Hi, I'm now about four weeks into my vRS journey. Both MOT advisories have been sorted; new tyres and new wishbones fitted. The dodgy seatbelt has also been replaced. Now I need to sort the suspension. It's too low and too hard. I don't think I need or want coilovers, just a new set of springs and dampers for a better ride and 25mm lower. I've no idea what's currently fitted, I don't really care. It just needs to be sorted. Out with the old, in with the new. Budget could stretch to 5 or 6 hundred quid, plus fitting. Should coilovers be a consideration? I can't see myself playing with the set up. Just want to fit and forget. Any advice on what springs and shocks to look for for my 25mm requirement and for a better ride? Many thanks.
