  1. I'll give it a go at the weekend. I don't get home from work until it's dark, so I can't be bothered to do it on a weekday. Thanks
  2. Sorry, nowhere near N Dorset, I'm in Grimsby. The alloys on the car are black 5JA601025B's 16". Tyres are 215/45/16. I've seen single used alloys of that type on eBay for only £70 without a tyre, and I'm tempted as the offset wouldn't be a problem. The only problem (apart from further cost) would be the wheel well isn't big enough to take a full sized alloy spare with the polystyrene gubbins on top, and have the board sit flat.
  3. Have you tried to fit the spare onto the car yet? I've got the same make and model as you from 2017, that was also not supplied with a spare. I had the misfortune to have a puncture on the M5 last week on the passenger front wheel. I'd previously bought a space saver spare from an online supplier, after providing them with my reg number and car details. After spending 15 minutes fitting the spare I tried drive away but heard a grinding noise when I moved. Fearing that I'd damaged the brakes or worse, I called out the AA. After inspecting the vehicle and removing the spare he said "the offset on your spare isn't big enough to clear the caliper, and it's grinding on it. If you'd swapped the spare for a rear alloy, and then put that on the front you would have been OK, the rear caliper is smaller". Does anyone know what offset is required, or should I just go into the dealer and ask?
  4. It was a leaf, and thanks for the heads up.
  5. Follow my link. The part is cheap, but the postage bumps it up a bit. The old one just pulls off and the new one pushes on. No glue, nothing. Took me 10 minutes tops.
  6. Congratulations I wish I could get it done for free. Just in case anyone else is looking for replacements, there's a supplier in Europe. https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/6v0867366j5ap-door-seal-front-right-skoda-26248.html
  7. Hi Penfolio Good luck with that. Fabia's are decent cars but if your dealer is like mine they wouldn't give you a thick ha'penny for a thin one. I've had my 2017 for a couple of years, but it was only by chance the other day I noticed the driver's side inner rubber front door seal is split on the inside around waste height. I had a look at the passenger side and that's wearing badly in the same place. I don't have the luxury of any warranty, and before long I'm sure it's going to start letting water in, so they will both need changing at my expense. I can't find any online for love or money, so I'm guessing it'll end up being through the dealer. I will find out myself when I finally give in, but in the meantime I've been trying to find out how much these things cost, and how much they will charge to fit them. If their other charges are anything to go by, it will probably need a re-mortgage if the dealer does it, so my other question to anybody who reads this is, can it be attempted by an enthusiastic amateur, what's involved, and is it easy/average/hard?
