  1. Hi, I am looking for a new family estate and the new Octavia Combi is one of the options I am considering. I am choosing between 1,5 TSI (manual) and 1,5 TSI (m-HEV and DSG). Is the m-HEV variant really worth it if I don't mind the manual transmission? All my cars so far have been manual and this never bothered me. Also, how is the reliability of this generation Octavia? I see many software issues, but this doesn't bother me that much because I expect them to be resolved with updates eventually. Mechanical reliability and electronics is what I am mostly concerned with. I don't change my cars too often, so I am looking to keep the car for 10-15 years and I hope to not have to do any big/expensive repairs in that time if I service it accordingly in that time. Also, I wanted to consider the PHEV variant as well, but it doesn't seem like it will be available any time soon. I don't need new car that urgently, and I will need to wait anyway, so if the PHEV is really worth it I might wait for it to be available. What do you think? Not sure if we can discuss other brands here, but the second option I have in mind is Toyota Corolla Touring Sports with the 2.0 hybrid engine. I think the Toyota is more reliable in general and they offer 10 years warranty, which is big plus for me, but the Skoda feels a bit more premium and maybe a bit better quiet inside. I have family in another European country (the home country of Skoda actually), so I am expected to make 1500 km trips and back once or twice per year. So, comfort over long highway drives is important to me as well and I think Octavia might have an edge there.
