  1. Yes- the thought did cross my mind - that i needn't have bought a new battery! To be fair to him he tested the battery and said it wasnt chargjng fully (cant remember exactly what he said) and I didnt buy the battery he offered (£196/5 yr guarantee !) He did tell me I'd get one cheaper locally so went back to where I'd bought my first one (the original lasted 14 years!) and it was £90. They said mine was 6yrs old - I didnt think that was too bad with only a 2 yr guarantee? If I'd have had more time I'd've gof them to test it and/or shopped around but I had to get to work!
  2. Thanks Alasdair. Will do all that ASAP. Youve saved me a trip to the garage! 😊
  3. Hi guys. Had to get RAC out to my 2005 tdi hatchback as battery dead one morning. I'd left my heat pad plugged into cig lighter overnight (stupid I know, but have long covid brainfog).RAC chap said it wouldnt be that as when ignition turned off power to lighter would cut off. He said battery wasn't in best shape so as it was 6 yrs old i got another. Yesterday exact thing happened. Told again it shouldnt be the cig lighter/heat pad being left on but chooding not to believe it! Why would this drain my battery? Old car? Fault in wiring? Also, since having new battery the automatic windows in front of car dont work. A fuse? Or something else? You guys have been brilliant at dianosing/explaining issues before. Any ideas this time please? TIA Lizzie 😁
  4. Very good points! Have post covid brain fog but should've realised this! 😳🤦‍♀️
  5. Thanks Pete. Thats what I thought made sense - don't want it scraping along the road!
  6. So should I pull the rusted metal off or just let it drop off...?
  7. Looking back through previous threads I'm hoping it won't 'blow' for a while!
  8. I was fretting so had to go and take photos then searched the site. Yep it looks like the outer skin of my back box is peeling! Panic over - I think! Just wasn't nice to see something parting company!
  9. Hi all. I'm not very savvy about cars so came on here a few years ago and got some good help so rejoined. Approaching my 2005 fabia from rear this evening I noticed something hanging down underneath. Couldn't see it too well. Starting about a foot in and left of centre it looks like a whole layer of rust has peeled away from... something metal! Is it likely something as simple as exhaust pipe? Can't remember having any of it replaced since bought car in 2009. Intending to take to garage ASAP but just fretting about it and wondered if anyone was online to reassure! Thanks
