  1. Hello all, Hopefully someone will be able to help me on this forum. I have recently purchased a 2015 2.0tdi Skoda Octavia initially everything appeared fine and the car worked as expected. Recently it has developed a very odd coolant leak issue, which I am hoping that someone with more knowledge than myself will be able to help me identify the root cause of the problem. essentially, very sporadically the car develops a leak in where it looses all of its coolant out of the tank within a few hours. What makes this issue even more strange that the first time this happened I took it to the garage and they changed the coolant tank and the cap as they suspected the tank had a hair line crack and the coolant was being released out of the cap. since this work the car was fine for about 5 days then the same issue showed up again this time on a brand new cap and tank. I noticed it this time when checking the car in the morning when I was about to go to work and all the coolant was on the floor and a large amount of residue on the outside of the coolant tank. As you would I took the car to the garage again and he looked over it, taken the car up to heat and leaving the engine running for a long time and you guessed it no leak, so I thought perhaps the leak this time was a red heron, and proceeded to drive the car only for it to to the exact same thing 3 days later, and here I am. The mechanic is completely stumped and can’t work what the issue is. Like I said the leak is not consistent and only happens sporadically then disappears again as fast as it appeared. I am hoping that this might be a known fault with the engine type and that someone on this forum has come up against this before. any insight that anyone may have would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance for any help . cheers
