But does anybody know which is the outgoing and which is the return fuel line from the fuel filter? I'm trying to run some diesel purge and having no luck. The only thing I could find online was the attached picture. I wasn't able to get the engine to run on diesel purge and it just wasn't having it, and I just want to rule out the possibility that I had the lines hooked up backwards. Is the attached picture correct?

I understand your pain all too well. I just had an injector replaced around Christmas time - I'm gutted the garage didn't take a quick peak in the fuel filter at the time and let me know what was sloshing around in there. I'd have made a more informed decision rather than just replacing the injector.

I suspect I'm having the same problem with my 1.6 (swarf in fuel filter, limp mode etc) and it's only at 115,000 miles on the clock. It's incredibly frustrating as you point out just how bad the used car market is right now. Even the bangers cost about a grand!

Hi all, I'm seeking your wisdom on an issue I've been having. Apologies if this should be in the VCDS forum instead - I wasn't sure. While driving on the M25 my car went into what I suspect is limp mode but I'm not sure. A scan (on a basic hand-held device) revealed the following two codes: P0087 - Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low P229A - Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Exceeded Control Limits - Pressure Too Low I get the flashing glow plug light, but the issue feels more like a loss in power rather than the engine manually restricting itself. I can get up to 70 (eventually) on flat ground. Introduce an upwards incline to the mix though and I'm lucky to maintain 50. Initially this fault would clear whenever I reset the ignition switch and then reintroduce itself when the engine went under heavy load or I revved too high. Previous searching has led me to believe this could be the turbo vanes, so before trying to get into the hot side of the turbo I tried some cleaner spray that goes into the intake (which I appreciate can't be doing much from the cold side of the turbo). After doing this and driving the car, the faults changed. Resetting the ignition no longer stops the coil light from flashing, the DPF light is now illuminated (though I suspect this is more to do with me not being able to rev the nuts off of it and clear it out) and I have the yellow check engine light displayed. I changed the fuel filter today and found a *lot* of sediment in housing. I do wonder if these could me metal filings from the high pressure fuel pump but I'm not sure at this point. At any rate, I cleaned it all out, primed the filter with VCDS, cleared all codes (lights immediately return upon clearing) and took it for another drive.
