  1. Thanks for the replies. Can anyone confirm that the part number is 06A919501A? Cheers
  2. Hi there Does anyone know the part number and the best place to buy a coolant temperature sensor for a Fabia 1.9TDI (ATD). From a quick check on line, it looks like they have several different types listed. Cheers
  3. Only really noticable when it gets dark earlier, maybe?
  4. Mines been doing this for the last 2 and a half years, normal for electric power steering.
  5. Its a 'feature' of manual climate control, I believe they are all the same.
  6. Thanks Woolfy, thats the bit! I have pulled and pulled and feel it's gonna snap if I pull anymore harder, perhaps I should order a new one before trying again. Thanks
  7. Hi chaps I am after some advice on centre console removal. I cant figure out how to remove the bit of plastic thats located in front of the handbrake, I have pushed, pulled, prized, yanked, poked a screwdriver in, twisted, swore, sweated and then gave up. I know my way around cars but this little sod of a bit of plastic will not come out! Any ideas before I snap it off? Thanks in advance
  8. I have standard ones which creak like buggery, although silent when it raining
  9. My next car will be an SDi as I don't use the power of my TDi in everyday use. Things I don't like regarding the TDi is the PD engine which requires VW 505.01 spec oil, the turbo which is a potential nightmare if it fails. My friend owns a garage and has had a few ATD PD VWs which have 'let go' without warning, giving their owners bills of around 3K, he reckons the SDi unit, albeit slow, is really robust. The SDi will suit my driving style anyway.
  10. I have a TDI and would swap it for an SDi tomorrow
  11. I had standard replacement springs fitted when one of mine snapped and my passenger side creaks and knocks like a goodun, I had the top mount bearing and console bushes changed and its still the same, its driving me mad at the moment!
  12. Mine had a problem and wasnt working, I traced the fault to a hole in a pipe which routes close to the exhaust (see pic) Check all pipe carefully
  13. Mine packed up due to a corroded pipe, the pipe is special and only available from skoda at £170+vat +£40 to re-gas and £80 to fit as the front bumper and radiator have to be removed. So at over £300 it was a no go, suffering for it now though
  14. My car is nearly 6 years old and covered 104k miles. I would never consider taking my car to a main dealer as they would rub their hands in glee. Cambelts are general items that need doing every 60k and should be about £200 from an independant. I doubt the clutch would be any more than £250 so bearing that in mind, I would spend on it and get another few years out of it. I believe the SDi can rack up impressive mileages so I would invest and enjoy. All cars go wrong and cost money. As you have spent a grand already you are fairly commited (unless you have loads of excess cash) Good luck with whatever you decide.
  15. Hi There I have the an ABS warning light showing, any pointers as to where to look? The Octavia is a 2001 4X4 1.8T Thanks
  16. I had a knock and found a broken coil spring and a knackered control arm bush, not too stressed as my car has over 100k on. Two new springs and two control arm bushes fitted and now knock free.
  17. opps:mad: Found an easy way in the end, got my mate Craig to do it, took him about 15 seconds:confused:
  18. Hi there damp carpets, usually caused by leaking carriers, easy fix but good bargaining tool. knocking from the front end caused by worn bushes, cambelt replacement can be costly if due
  19. It's the main cover that goes over the rear wiper motor, held in with 14 metal spring clips.. Whats the secret for refitting? it's beyond me. Get it nearly on and spring clips comes flying off, take it off, refit spring clips, use foul language and repeat process until it gets dark.... Any easy way to do this? Thanks
  20. Some dealers really try it on, the other two look better options
