Thanks roottoot, Do you know what the difference with the DSG box is? As in characteristics? Im assuming my 17plate A4 avant and Golf R Estate would have had a wet clutch then? Thanks

Hi Folks, Had my 68plate Skoda Karoq a couple of weeks now and generally I love it, even considering I came from my golf r estate. However, I have noticed that at around 16-1800 rpm the engine noise seems really intrusive (even at cruising speeds). General cabin noise is fine but I feel the engine noise seems much noise than expected. The only way I could describe it would be if the engine cover was loose or if the airbag was loose (checked these and its not the case). I know this could be just be the fact that its a diesel, but I have owned plenty and feel like this is is noisier during that particular rev range. Has anybody else experienced this with the 1.6tdi? Also not sure whether this is an issue or not but it seems like before the DSG box changes gear, it gives it a tiny overrun before shifting into the next gear? Only ever so slightly but I have come from 2 7 speed DSG boxes before, however mounted to a far bigger engine. Thanks in advance

On the 200m journey mix of A roads and motorways, it returned 58mpg. Now driven around time along, it seems the long term average is sat around 51mpg

Sorry I didn’t explain myself well. Each weekend I drive from Staffordshire to Manchester and back twice. So around 220m per weekend. The only other mileage I do is around 20miles per week getting to nursery and the gym. So yes mainly my mileage is motorway mileage. I have to update you, I managed to get my hands on a 69plate 1.6tdi dsg and it’s done it’s first 200m trip this weekend. I cannot believe how good it is on fuel. I suppose anything would seem good coming from a golf r estate though thanks

Hi Folks, I used to be an existing member some years ago, I owned a mk1 fabia VRS and to this day it was probably my favourite car I have owned. I currently drive a Golf R Estate, however I have now bought a new house so im hoping to reduce my bills. My mileage is typically 12k per year. Most of this being 50m motorway journeys every weekend. I think the Skoda Karoq would be great for this, I also need this to be the main family car. My question is...... I have seen both 1.5dsg and 1.6tdi DSG. I don't have any preference. The pricing is also very similar. Does anybody have any real world experience in what to expect MPG wise for them both. Im looking for DSG if im honest. Thanks in advance!
