  1. Hi Carlston, SurreyJohn and gav_is_con, Thanks for your advice! I think that I will now sell the previous Octavia steel sheels and winter tyres as at least that can offset the cost of any new ones. I could look at some all season tyres but when I had the Octavia I found that having the winter tyres on a spare set of steel wheels putting them on in the late autumn and then swapping back in spring worked okay for me and tyre wear was spread evenly over the two plus I always had a spare (the Octavia didn't come with a spare wheel and neither did the Superb). If I do go down the route of getting a new set of spare rims with winter tyres fitted given everything that has been said about issues of fitting smaller tyres and rims compared to what the car comes with should this influence what new winter tyres I buy if I go for some again and switch wheels/ tyres as I used to with my previous Octavia? For example the table below says that I could get a 205/60 R16 tyre. But given that I'd be removing 215/55 R17 tyres should I only be looking to replace with 215/55 R17 winter tyres? I'm just wondering because I think that if I am going to buy new steel rims with winter tyres on it will be chealer to buy a new set of steel wheels in 6.5Jx16 ET41 with 205/60 R16 tyres on them as opposed to buying a new set of steel 7Jx17 ET40 rims with 215/55 R17 winter tyres. Thanks again for all the help and advice! Cheers, John koda Superb 2022 1.5 TSI – Generation: III B8 (3V) Facelift [2019 .. 2023] – Market: EUDM – Power: 148 hp | 110 kW | 150 PS – Engine: 1.5L, I4, Petrol – Options: Active, Ambition, Style, SE, SE L, SportLine, SportLine Plus, L&K, Executive, Business – Center Bore: 57.1 mm – PCD: 5x112 – Wheel Fasteners: Lug bolts – Wheel Tightening Torque: unknown – Thread Size: M14 x 1.5 – Trim Production: [2019 .. 2022] Tire Rim 205/60R16 92V 6.5Jx16 ET41 2.3 / 2.1 215/60R16 95V 6.5Jx16 ET41 2.3 / 2.1 215/55R17 94V 6.5Jx17 ET41 2.3 / 2.1 215/55R17 94V 7Jx17 ET40 2.3 / 2.1 235/45R18 94W 8Jx18 ET44 2.4 / 2.2 235/40R19 96W 8Jx19 ET44 2.4 / 2.2
  2. Hi TruckbusUK, Thanks for the link and I used that calculator to compare the current Superb tyres of 215/55 R17 to my spare set of Octavia Winter tyres of 205/55 R16 H. I'm not sure if the link to the results will work but I'll try to post & share it below:- https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wheel1=215-55-17X7ET40&wheel2=205-55-16X6.5ET50&fcl=50mm&wcl=30mm&scl=50mm&sr=0mm There were some positives and some negatives but I was going to ask what are real safety concerns & deal breakers in that it definitely shouldn't be done and what was more of a cosmetic & asthetic issue in terms of how the car looks. But I think that some of the additional posts have sort of superseeded those thoughts because the feeling seems to be not to use the Octavia winter tyres on the Superb. What I will need to do is check my spare rims and see if I can locate the size of the rims to see if bigger tyres could be fitted on the existing rims I think. Thanks again for all the help and advice! John
  3. Also this follows on from the info that Carlston reference but I've just looked at the info on the wheel-size website for the 2012 Octavia 1.6 diesel versus the Superb 1.5 petrol and it shows the following:- For the Octavia:- Skoda Octavia 2012 1.6TDI – Generation: Mk2 A5 (1Z) [2005 .. 2012] – Power: 103 hp | 77 kW | 105 PS – Engine: 1.6L, I4, Diesel – Center Bore: 57.1 mm – PCD: 5x112 – Wheel Fasteners: Lug bolts – Wheel Tightening Torque: unknown – Thread Size: M14 x 1.5 – Trim Production: [2009 .. 2012] Tire Rim 195/65R15 92H 6Jx15 ET47 2.1 205/60R15 92H 6.5Jx15 ET50 2.1 205/55R16 91H 6.5Jx16 ET50 2.3 225/45ZR17 91W 7Jx17 ET54 2.5 And for the Superb:- Skoda Superb 2022 1.5 TSI – Generation: III B8 (3V) Facelift [2019 .. 2023] – Market: EUDM – Power: 148 hp | 110 kW | 150 PS – Engine: 1.5L, I4, Petrol – Options: Active, Ambition, Style, SE, SE L, SportLine, SportLine Plus, L&K, Executive, Business – Center Bore: 57.1 mm – PCD: 5x112 – Wheel Fasteners: Lug bolts – Wheel Tightening Torque: unknown – Thread Size: M14 x 1.5 – Trim Production: [2019 .. 2022] Tire Rim 205/60R16 92V 6.5Jx16 ET41 2.3 / 2.1 215/60R16 95V 6.5Jx16 ET41 2.3 / 2.1 215/55R17 94V 6.5Jx17 ET41 2.3 / 2.1 215/55R17 94V 7Jx17 ET40 2.3 / 2.1 235/45R18 94W 8Jx18 ET44 2.4 / 2.2 235/40R19 96W 8Jx19 ET44 2.4 / 2.2
  4. Hi Truckbus UK, So if I look at the wheel size.com website ( https://www.wheel-size.com/size/skoda/superb/2022/#trim-15-tsi-eudm-148 ) if it says the following are these the only Tyre and Rim sizes that I can use on my Superb? Tire Rim 205/60R16 92V 6.5Jx16 ET41 2.3 / 2.1 215/60R16 95V 6.5Jx16 ET41 2.3 / 2.1 215/55R17 94V 6.5Jx17 ET41 2.3 / 2.1 215/55R17 94V 7Jx17 ET40 2.3 / 2.1 235/45R18 94W 8Jx18 ET44 2.4 / 2.2 235/40R19 96W 8Jx19 ET44 2.4 / 2.2 I'm guessing (but I could be wrong) that perhaps the snowflake means a reference to winter tyres. Also I can look at my tyres and check the size but I've no idea what size my steel rims are and is there anyway to find this out or do you have to measure them? Or should there be somewhere on the rim itself where this is written? Many thanks, John
  5. Hi Carlston, Thanks for your message and for the information. Did this relate to if I was just using the Octavia's 205/55 R16 H tyres and trying to put them on the Superb's rims? If so my apologies as I should have explained myself better. When I had the Octavia I had the standard alloy wheels that the car came with and every winter I used to take the alloy wheels with tyres still on completely off the car. and store them. Then I'd put on the other set of steel wheels that I had which had the winter tyres on. Therefore when I sold the Octavia I still have the spare set of steel wheels with the 205/55 R16 H winter tyres fitted on them. So my intention, if they'd fit, would be to again in winter take the Superb's alloy wheels & fitted tyres completely off the car and replace them with the steel wheels that have the winter tyres fitted on them. Hi TruckbusUK, Thanks for your message and I'll take a look at that website. From what you've said I'm assuming therefore that there could be potential knockon issues for the car calaulating speed & distance correctly if I use a different sized wheel tyre. I'm wondering how places where the fitting of winter tyres is compulsory handle this becuase do they always just use the same rim and replace just the normal tyre with a winter one or if changing the entire wheel do they have to try and ensure that the replacemrnt whee/ & tyre is of the same size as the one removed? Thanks again for the help! Cheers, John
  6. Hi All, I hope that everyone is well. I’ve got a question and if somebody is able to help with some advice that will be great. I had an Octavia Mk II 2020 1.6 diesel and as well as the standard wheels I also had an additional set of steel wheels on which I had winter tyres fitted. I’ve now sold that car and have replaced it with a Mk III Superb 1.5 petrol. What I’m wondering is how can I figure out whether or not the wheels with the winter tyres that I used on the Octavia could be used on the Superb or not. I’m wondering whether different sizes of wheels and maybe even different disc brake sizes for example could cause issues? The steel wheels that I used on the Octavia has winter tyres on and the tyre size is 205/55 R16 H. On the Superb the size of the tyres that came with the car are 215/55 R17. If there is a way to work out whether the wheels & winter tyres that I used on the Octavia are compatible with the Superb that will be great. Many thanks to anybody who can help! Cheers, John
  7. Hi bubib5, Thanks for your message and for taking a look to see if you can find the guide on how to do this. Hi Patent, Yes it is a facelift car. Thanks, John
  8. Hi All, Thanks very much for your messages which are much appreciated and very helpful. Hi dg360, Thanks for your message and now you’ve explained it that does make sense from a safety perspective. Hi Patent, Thanks for your message and whereby you’ve said “will automatically manoeuvre to the right position when you unlock the car if you use driver profiles for each key” that sounds like an amazing feature. How can I activate that feature because both me and my wife use the car as we share the one car so this feature would be absolutely perfect. Do you know of a link to a video or some instructions on how to do this? Hi komoornik, Thanks for your advice on this. Hi penpusher, Yes following the messages above that does make sense to me now just from a safety perspective in case of an accidental press.. Thanks again to you all for your help. John
  9. Hi All, Hope everyone is well and I’ll be grateful if someone can help with some advice. We’ve just bought a nearly new pre-registered Skoda Superb from dealer stock. It’s an SE Technology model. This has replaced our Octavia and it’s the first car we’ve ever had with electric seats. We weren’t sure how to use them and we found this video which is for a Kodiaq instead of a Superb. https://youtu.be/feE3I-TQGcg Should the operation be the same on the Superb? The reason we ask is because in the video the person presses the numbered memory button just once with a single press and takes their finger off the button and the seat goes into the memory position. However on our car you have to press and hold down the numbered memory button for the seat to move into place. As soon as you take your finger off the button the seat stops moving. Is this a fault that we need to report to the dealer or do the Superb seats work differently to the Kodiaq ones in the video and on the Superb you need to hold your finger on the button continuously until the seat has reached the final memory position? Thanks to anyone who can help with advice! John
