  1. Last night i attempted to touch up a stone chip on my car using a toothpick but a blob of touch up paint landed on the bonnet...so in the spur of panick I tried wiping it off with a cloth and this ended smudging the paint leaving a streak and it was drying up solidly very fast!! So in another moment of panick I took the kitchen sponge and using its abrasive side I attempted to rub off the excess paint however I ended up rubbing into the paintwork a swirl mark the size of a cd and now the paint has lost its shiney layer and you can see some swirls and scruffs ... I tried tcut and it helped reduce it alot but under certain angles when you look at it..the patch remains there...its as though the lacquer layer has gone!! any advice and help? Thanks
  2. That's great! Thanks for your advice guys. The toothpick definately helps I just tried it out on a couple of stone chips. Thanks again
  3. I just bought an official touch up kit from Skoda, its the official one and you get the paint stick along with a lacquer pen. Does anyone know what the lacquer pen is for? Is it to be used after the paint stick as a finish off seal? Some advice would be appreciated.
  4. maybe they'll take ur car in to fix your speaker audio problem and then introduce some other forced human failure hoping that because they fixed the radio for you, you would be inclined to take your car back to them to fix whatever new problem they caused being it mechanical or electrical....:cool:
  5. I suppose I shouldnt have asked the question now because any potential vrs buyer may well come or be on briskoda...and then by chance they come and having to read all this... I've been wondering if it will even sell given the hard times we have to endure these days to live in Britain...
  6. All, I have had to make the decision to sell my vrs se come August time. Those of you familiar with my episode a few months back with the accident will be aware that my car has been repaired after a mad accident which was not a fault of mine. Now..my intention of selling is not because of the accident. I am moving out of the country in September time and I no longer need the car... although given the chance I wouldn't part with it as I've only had it under a year. I don't intend to fob anyone off and not tell them what the car has endured as of late but I do hope to genuinely sell the vehicle on with the the buyer totally aware of what has happened with the vehicle in the past but at the same time importantly...to know that the car has a repair warranty of all the genuine parts that were replaced and on top of that the standard manufactures warranty which still has 2 years left. As I've never sold a car privately... can anyone give some advice on how I should approach this? I don't think that the value of the car should be much lower than the standard market price as a result of the accident because all the damage from the report was just physical panelling work and there is nothing wrong with the the drive system whatsoever...I've even had a new standard exhaust put on to replace the old so it hasn't taken any of the previous 11k mileage. It is also hpi clear as it wasn't written off. Admins, please note this is not an advert to to sell my car....I am just looking for sound advice on selling it on. Thanks
  7. I have no idea what this lacquer pen is for... the box contains this and the paint stick. Can anyone guide me in the right direction? I bought it to touch up some stone chips.
  8. I'm in! Anyone else here with Race Blue VRS that has ordered? I need to get the paint code update: PM'd and payment made via paypal. Race Blue Metallic Code is X8X8 if anyone else requires it Cheers Tom
  9. Right... being a sunny day today I decided to check out the stone chips again on the front end of my car..it's starting to worry me because there is a lot of exposure of the metal below. I need to get these repaired so do I pay someone to do it and if so, is this kind of work expensive? Or do I buy a kit in and do it myself Any recommendations? I heard there was a group buy for a stonechip repair kit from the states on this forum not so long ago... any luck with your kits? Anyone with advice ?
  10. I checked mine today aswell and it was littered with them at the front end...is the paint weak or something? It has a layer of diamondbrite on but not that it's going to protect it.
  11. Couldn't find a thread on here about this so I thought I'd make a new post. Superb lives up to name and gives Skoda last laugh after years as butt of jokes - Times Online
  12. So glad to hear a happy ending for your scenario. I am still waiting for my car to be repaired, (vrs se - i have a thread about it on this forum) it's been in the garage since March 7th when the accident happened but they didnt really evaluate the damage till beginning April. ETA on the repair is 22nd May... not sure what to expect really..alot of parts are to be replaced...
  13. I want the badge as seen in the pic below! no more green...just chrome, looks a lot classier anyone know where to source a pair of them??
  14. Nice photography, Sure looks nice when the car is lowered!
  15. ive never seen one of them cup holder slots before!! why didnt they fit a couple in the VRS model?? Its a bit of inexpensive plastic..surely the vrs should have come with them standard...grrr might have to go get one now as the cup holder behind the hand brake is fiddly..
  16. I had the same problem on mine and it was 07 reg with only 10k miles. The skoda garage couldnt find anything wrong with it at all... But i think i've seen people mention on the forum here that it was a common characteristic of the rear brakes
  17. They called the glass on the SE's 'sunset glass'. Not sure if the glass is actually tinted or whether it has a film over it as per usual. Mine is in the garage now getting repaired, I hope they replace a like for like skoda tinted glass part for the rear because it was smashed to bits and I assume they can only source standard fabia screens... have to wait and see
  18. A Sales person I spoke to at Skoda over at Liverpool said its possible that the engine will be the 1.4 supercharged TSI but yea they were having difficulty fitting the engine into the car.
  19. not seen many Yellow VRS's I like that tone of yellow.
  20. never thought of that one! i guess u just have to make sure the stone does not then bounce off ur bonnet!!
  21. I wouldnt mind getting a pair of the new Skoda Logo badges to replace the current ones seen on the new superb, definately a classier branding style see link below: http://www.autokampioen.nl/published/akm/content/afbeeldingen/2006_3/toekomst/0611skodsu-470273_enlarged.jpg
  22. welcome to the forum, I started noticing leaky doors in my vrs too and it was only 7 months old.. I'm wondering how do they fix this problem at skoda because they just replace the seals with the same parts right?
  23. Sorry to hear about what happened, you ok yourself?
