Easy entry/convenient entry function coding
I know there are several coding threads, but I believe that this information deserves its own thread because it addresses a specific fault that I have seen or heard about happening on more than one car. Mk IVs delivered in some regions are fitted with memory seats, have the infotainment system menu to turn the feature on, but the coding is wrong and when you attempt to toggle the menu item, it results in the error message "Sorry, this function is currently unavailable." What's bizarre is that some cars have the feature permanently turned on, with no way to disable it because the menu doesn't work! See https://youtu.be/4ljA2W0zvrk?t=917 for an example featuring a Mk8 Golf R. I have also personally seen turned on it in demonstrator vehicles on the lot at my dealer. My own car was off by default. My dealer was clueless about it! Here is the coding that fixed my car: Control unit 36: Driver Seat Long coding → Easy_Entry_front → Value: active Long coding → enabling_EasyEntry_front_seat_passenger_by_driver → Value: active Control unit 06: Passenger Seat Long coding → Easy_Entry_front → Value: active Long coding → enabling_EasyEntry_front_seat_passenger_by_driver → Value: active I used OBDeleven but VCDS would also work. Neither SFD unlock or a security access code were required. Coding was done with the ignition on, engine off and bonnet open. Toggling easy entry entry via the infotainment system now works for driver seat and front passenger seat. The following long coding values did NOT help me: enabling_EasyEntry_front_seat_by_BCM - I do not recommend setting this bit to active. I had seen that it was required on some earlier model Audis, but it actually hides the menu to configure the seats on my car. Easy_Entry_fond - does not seem to do anything on my car. YMMV, and I strongly recommend doing a backup of the current settings of your car with your chosen diagnostic tool before you do any coding.

No esim for Skoda's sold in Australia
I can confirm that the Wi-Fi hotspot for wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay is available on Australian cars @PetrolDave, but the cars do not have an inbuilt mobile data connection. For whatever reason, Skoda Australia decided to deliver all of the current models (up to 2022) with no inbuilt mobile data connection. Anything related to online services simply isn't there to select on the infotainment screen. There is no online store, no OTA updates, no remote control via MySKODA/SKODA Connect, no user profiles, and no emergency SOS calling. Unfortunately, there is no workaround to access OTA updates or any of the online services in Australia @thecrevis. Software updates need to be done at the dealer. You can think of Australian delivered cars as completely offline save for the content that is displayed by your phone when using Android Auto/Apple Carplay. If I were to speculate, it's because market potential is low due to being a really big island with a sparse population. I would expect the reason that Skoda made this decision was because they did not want to make the investment in infrastructure (onshore application servers, etc) or working out agreements with the local cellular providers. The cellular modems in the cars themselves may also require some work around localisation to be used in Australia so they either meet regulatory approval or possibly support different frequency bands to the rest of the world (for example, LTE band 28 is commonly used in Australia, but less so elsewhere in the world). Hell, there may have even been hurdles for the legal department that prevented online services being available in Australia. I'm sure it would have been technically possible to offer everything that's on offer elsewhere in the world, but probably not at a cost or in a timeframe that they were willing to commit to. Personally, I see it as a blessing because Australian delivered cars miss out on all the software bugs to do with online services and SOS emergency calling that I've heard about on this forum.

Permanently disable start-stop by unplugging battery monitor control unit (J367)
Thank you for posting this! I honestly had not put it together that THIS was the quickest way to achieve the desired result. The physical buttons have the effect of returning straight to the previous thing you were doing if you haven't got more than one level deep in the menus and you press the button a second time. There's three ways to turn off auto start stop on this damn car. Press SET ➡️ tap Start/stop ➡️ Press SET to return to what you were doing If you have the shortcut on your notification panel, swipe down on any screen to open the notification panel ➡️ tap the shortcut for Start/stop Open the main menu ➡️ tap vehicle settings ➡️ tap status on the right side of the screen ➡️ tap Start/stop I blame Skoda. This is an awful UI/UX decision. I had looked at the SET menu many times, but always passed over it because I had learnt the notification panel method from the dealer. There should not be more than one procedure for dealing with a function like this. The thread on VWROC is not enough to satisfy my curiosity, because it's just someone repeating information from another source without citing it. HOWEVER, because the screen name of the author of said source was mentioned, I looked for other forum posts by DV52 on the relevant forums. These threads that DV52 has posted in go into much more detail: SOC Battery | OBDeleven (June 2016) Start stop | OBDeleven (August 2016) Battery Charge option not available | OBDeleven (January 2018) Learning new battery for Golf Sportsvan | OBDeleven (February 2018) VCDS (VAG-COM) codes and programmable options for Golf Mk7 (vwwatercooled.com.au) (December 2019) Problem with start/stop system anyone? | Page 2 | GOLFMK7 - VW GTI MKVII Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVII Forum (January 2020) 2019 RS3 Gateway Local Data Bus - Electrical Error | Page 2 | Ross-Tech Forums (March 2022) It's interesting to see the understanding of the module evolve over the years. Essentially, the components that's being unplugged can be likened to one of those electrical clamp meters around the negative battery strap. In summary, this is what I gleaned from the linked forum threads: unplugging the connector from the negative battery terminal means that there's no data for the battery history database and that the module is not able to supply the rest of the system with a reference for system voltage - different to battery voltage. I believe that the reason why the car continues to function normally is that anything that relies on knowing the system voltage gets by on measuring the battery voltage, like the alternator module CX1, as mentioned. Don't take this as gospel, but I think the battery charging system has a set of known safe values that it will work with even if the battery history database and the system voltage level is not available. I think the only real consequence of disconnecting this plug is that your battery might not last as long. Until there's a better solution, I am happy with that trade-off. Auto start stop annoys me that much.

Permanently disable start-stop by unplugging battery monitor control unit (J367)
Joined to say that I also dislike auto start stop and I like not having to think about turning it off every time. Can confirm that the switch to turn it off is buried in the touchscreen menu on this car. Even if you have put the shortcut to turn it off on your notification panel, it's a two step process to swipe down then press the shortcut. I've found the gesture to swipe down and open the notification panel is horrendously unreliable depending on how soon you want to open the panel after starting the car. Infuriating! Just tried this out. Works great! Here's a link to an article with pictures. See method 1: disconnect voltage sensor. How to permanently disable Auto Start-Stop on VW Tiguan (wheelsjoint.com). The article is for a Tiguan, but the battery looks exactly the same on my Octavia. Do you happen to have the source for that? I can see why it would be an issue for hybrid vehicles that have a complicated BMS, but I don't see a problem for a regular petrol/diesel car.
