  1. Hey all, First time poster here and an American expat living in Prague. Considering buying a used 1999 automatic Octavia 1.8t combi with ~190k km on it from a friend. The car is in good condition and well maintained for its age. It gently weeps atf but shifts smoothly although the current owner said it is a bit slow to shift in the winter until it gets warmed up. I had a Czech mechanic who is also a friend check it (no pun intended) out and he said it's all good except if I have any issue with an automatic gearbox that old I will be hard pressed to find a mechanic willing to work on it without heavy cost. I'm no stranger to doing maintenance on my own vehicles so I'm curious if anyone has any experience changing/ flushing the atf on this type of car? Really any relatable experience to offer with this generation of automatic Skodas would be much appreciated! Thanks!
