  1. Gaad damn. That's disappointing. I recall the days of when I passed my test you could just swap out headunits and just have to forkout some cash for the ISO plug from Halfords. I saw this unit online and although it isn't the OEM style that i wanted to retain. Do you think this would work in my car? It appears the connections are all at the back of display, but not sure if with my car you can move the cables from the glovebox cd drive to the centre console as there is barely enough cable stretch do remove the cd drive from its cubby hole. https://www.joyingauto.eu/skoda-octavia-android-head-unit-4g-lte-stereo.html Have you had a successful attempt at relocating wires to centre console before?
  2. Hi all, After lurking about this site for a while, I'm a bit lost trying to find out how to upgrade my head unit to something which has slightly more functunality. I have a 2013 Skoda Octavia Elegance mark3. It comes with a 5.6" head unit and multimedia player in the glove box. Although the headunit has bluetooth as has most of the features I need. What I really want is a bigger screen and to be able to use android apps such as google maps/waze etc. Skoda does come preloaded with GPS and maps but it is crap and really outdated by todays standards, which is my main reason for wanting to upgrade. I have been looking at some chinese tablet style upgrades ( i know they are mixed reviews on here) but Pioneer/Sony etc can get stuffed with their ridiculous £700quid offerings. Whereas the Chinese Teyes unit or similar I have seen for about £300ish - not to shabby in my opinion. Unfortunatly for my car type and headunit version I can never seem to find a listing which shows compatibility with my car head unit type. 5E0035874A. 1) If I were to somehow find a bigger screen of the same type would i be able to plug and play it as a straight swap without having any restrictive coding issues to overcome? If so, i would then just buy an android box and fit it behind the glove box and i'll be sorted. 2) A few folk seem to have upgraded to MIB 2.5 - which i presume is the latest and greatest can this be done from my humble position of MIB without paying £1k. I am keen not to overspend on this upgrade as due to ULEZ being expanded in London next year I will probably have to sell and upgrade to a newer car, hence I just want to have that google maps function and enjoy the car while I can, as generally speaking im quite happy with it otherwise. Your help is very much appreciated. I have added some photos if it helps.
  3. Hi, I am going off ma nut here, trying to find someone who has the same headunit as me and after 3 days of searching I found this thread!. Can you confirm if you were able to upgrade your head unit?.
