  1. hi nig i would like a more detailed explanation of how to do this as mine is playing up. sounds a quick fix which is going to help. john
  2. like i said most problems are wear and tear related. off the top of my head airbag lights, door lock cables pinch bolts on suspension, heater unit all can be overcome quite resonably. gearbox problems have resulted in replacement in recon box. if you want further advice on avensis i can ask a few local taxi drivers and get a list.lol
  3. mines been a taxi all its life 2007 comfort 1.9 tdi. now got nearly 190 k on . the new avensis have problems with hinges on the newer ones not made for taxi slamming customers.no a few who have had prolems with door hinges.the older ones are better but have heard of a few gearbox problems. on the whole skoda problems tend to be irritating nigglie problems.
  4. thanks sorted now .did look at that but was not confident enough. my mate a mechanic did it for me. replaced door cable which cost less than £10 well pleased . thats both sides replaced now on front doors.so if having trouble with door opening try the cable first.
  5. Removed drivers door card to gain access to door handle cable. Behind is a metal plate .do you just undo the bolts or is it more complicated than that.looks like window mech is fixed to plate.
  6. i vote for the brake pedal unit. mine didnt even throw up a problem with brake lights
  7. same problem for me. i turn mine by hand in spring /autumn so i have no heat in summer and kebab burner in winter intrested in replies.
  8. got a replacement ready from gsf for £24 but mechanic away so hope it lasts.
  9. update brought some servosol 10 from maplins removed shroud surrounding switch sprayed librally in the switch whilst working it. seems ok now time will tell. john
  10. as alliv said above can this be done in situ. john
  11. dont know if its worth trying this.as mine is a taxi and i went in one of the hand car washes the other day only to be covered in dripping water when the geezer put full blast at me.the aerial is one of them magnetic ones where the cable goes over the door seal.worth checking. john
  12. good luck mate. iam a taxi driver with a 07 superb. i know what you mean about changing vehicles a right pain in the ar**. damage dont look too bad. be intrested in how things go please post about it. john
