Xenon headlight sensor
thanks both. yes lights go up and down on the igingition and I think without the sensor conncected up they would have rested in the right position but the MOT tester was insisting it wouldn't pass without it all working as it's supposed to. Thanks to Mike I got the sensor delivered from Czech. Friendly parts guy at Lookers Guildford confirmed the part number for the rod 1J0941285C and advised that the last one in the country is at Johnsons Stafford in case anyone else finds this post in the future and needs one they could try there. I ended up buying a 1J0941285D . new old stock from ebay which seems to be identical. We now have a MOT! 🎉

Xenon headlight sensor
My MK1 Laurin Klem has failed MOT because the headlight beam automatic adjustment sensor thing is broken. I'm really struggling to find one. It's not the same a golf one. The part is specific and was made only for this model by the looks of it. Part is 1U0907503 and I also need the linkage rod that connects to it but I don't have the part number for that. Sorry I don't know if I posted this in the right place and thanks if anyone can help me.

Space saver spare for Ocatvia 1 Combi?
Thanks JR. I'm confused about the diameters of these wheels, they all seem to have 70 hight tyres, I'm begining to think it's probably not crucial for the diamater to exactly match the other wheels. It looks like I need 5x100 PCD wheels and I can't find any flat ones, they all seem to have a rim which bulges out in the middle which doesn't suit my purpose because it won't fit in the 12 or so cm gap. I think I will take my full size spare on holiday. I may even remove the smaller rear seat swab and put it there. (don't worry i'm not going to get anyone to sit on it.) thanks again.

Space saver spare for Ocatvia 1 Combi?
Hi everyone, Short version: is there a space saver spare that will fit(ish) in the space between the 2 boot floors of the MK1 Octavia estate and is compatible with the car both by fitmnent to the hubs, and in general - I'm guessing there was no such thing at the time of manufacture and wouldn't be surprised if the ABS light comes on due to the increased rotation of that wheel if and when it's used, is it possible/safe? . Long version: Because of the ULEZ extension I had to retire my trusty MK1 1.9TDI Octi L&K hatch to my very grateful countryside fam where it will be used to tootle around. I bought an even older 2002 1.8T petrol estate, L&K naturally, which is ULEZ compliant though twice the price to tax, I don't make the rules. This car has a funny, don't know if I would call it yellow, leather interior. It will grow on me or look very dirty all the time or both. It has 50k, one owner from new and all the stamps in the book, whether the main stealers actually did what they wrote in it we'll never know. Anyway I can only just about sqeeze 35mpg out of it and given the current fuel prices and since I've often wondered about having an LPG car, I thought I'd go for it so I've now got a 50L gas tank where the spare should go and a full size alloy spare wheel looking quite fat in the middle of the boot. Can anyone tell me if there's a space saver spare wheel that fits in the gap in the boot floors.. or any other sugestions welcome of course (I don't like those foam aerasol puncture kits). thanks.
