  1. Little update! As I was driving to the hotel today. It popped to my mind that some of the sounds might be related to the linkage. So I took a quick look under the hook and found the gear selector (fork?), that thing where the 2 linkage attach too, very loose! There's a lot of play on it and I can hear it making the ''metallic'' noise when I shake it. Any idea where to find the issue? Does this has bushings or can something wear out on the gear selector? Thanks a lot! Kind regards!
  2. Thanks for the answer! Next week I've got some spare time to check this out. Anyhow, today I listend very carefull! Upon start there was a small, small rattle that disappears when the clutch pedal is pressed... After my 15 mile drive to work I couldn't hear the rattle anymore. On my way back to the hotel, except for the knocking shifting 1st and 2nd gear, and gearnoise when handling the poke nothing special came up. But once parked again here, the rattle was there too. There's a wetspot underneath the bellhouse. Suspect gearoil leak... On my list: - Gearoil change - check enginemounts - check driveshafts I'll probably get my wife in the car shifting whilst taking a look under the hood.... Let's see if we find some more. But I suspect the input shaft bearing is on it's way out.
  3. Hi all! I'm a bit struggling with a noise since I bought my fabia combi (2012) 1,5 years ago. I'm away for work now and as I'm trying to get some hypermiling technics done I got a clear view on the issue, at least, some clear things to describe it *As soon as the car starts driving there's a 'driving noise' but loud.... Difficult to tell what exactly but imagine the sound a electric toy car. This driving noise is best heard when coasting downhill with radio OFF. When press the clutch pedal, the noise becomes less! It doesn't disappears but becomes less... *Knock felt in the brake pedal when engine starts: I tried about 30 minutes ago, I got a hard knock through the brake pedal upon start. Second start attempt, 2 min later, felt nothing... *No abnormal noise whilst idling: They are know for the inpt shaft bearings but can't find any noise over there in standstill, idling or revving... *Clunck when shifting: 1st and 2nd gear gives a clunck when the clutch catches, not always, but most of the times. I thought it was the transmission input shaft bearing, but this we should hear at idling, or at least when revving as well... Engine mount show some movement but no clear signs that they are shot so far. At an emergency stop the car pulls quite hard to the right. When shifting you can hear the mechanism, also in standstill. Gears go rather smooth. I'm planning to change the gear oil asap (when I'm back home). What I have: Whining sound might come from the gearbox oil, not enough in it or it's gone bad. But this doesn't explain the clunck upon start (clutch disengaged). Might be more than issue. Anyhow, I'd like to hear your opinion on this, it might help me to locate the issue(s) better than i've done now Thx! Kind regards Jan
  4. Hi all Since 1,5 year I'm driving a wonderfull black metallic Fabia combi. It's the cheapest I found to buy, to drive and mantain. That it is a wonderfull car I found out shortly after I ended up with a Fabia after I started to maintain my brothers '13 Fabia. But... as we all know... Somethings things are not that easy Kind Regards from Belgium (actually in the UK at the moment) Jan
