Hi Alltorque looked where you suggested everything but the Early Medium and Late settings are there. Looks as if it has been missed off when the car was set up should not take a techy with a laptop long to fix. Went to Beamish open air museum in the old garage there was a display case of bits and pieces including a stethoscope wonder if a techy would have a clue what to do with it. I suppose it was the USB cable of its day just plug it into a brain instead of a laptop Joe

Took bulbs out and cleaned contacts, drivers side working OK with high and low light but passenger side still on high. Electrics guy at my usual garage had a look and we have got the passengers side on low light but not on high but as long as I have one fog lamp working I should be OK. I think I have only ever used the rear fog light a couple of times. Car is probably suffering from old age the same as me

Skoda fabia estate 1.9 diesel registered sept 2005 . When I put my lights on the fog lights are coming on at the same time. Have tried turning the fog light switch off and on a few times in case something sticking. Anyone had a similar problem that they have been able to fix. Joe

I have contacted Skoda who confirm that the sensors were factory fitted. They are very kindly going to send me a full list of my cars speck, whether it gives names of units fitted I am not sure. I will try and find the control unit and get back to you.

The car does have a tow bar (put on by the previous owner) but I have had the car for 5 yrs with no problems with the sensors. The Skoda garage where I bought the car also sold it to the first owner, I am only the second owner. I wonder if they can tell from the vin number whether the car had factory fitted reversing sensors. The guy who ran the computer vehicle check said there was no record of the sensors, which their would have been if it had been wired into the on board computer. Joe

Have been to the garage today sadly my reversing sensors were not factory fitted so I don't think my extended warranty will cover replacement. Apparently the control box is sending power to the sound box continuously the good news is that since its my regular garage they have not charged me for their time checking it out. They reckon I will need a complete new system of parking sensors.

I thought the beeping had stopped yesterday and it had gone back to working OK. Turned the ignition on (not started car) put it into reverse and checked all the sensors which seemed to be working OK. But now I am getting beeping again with nothing behind the car. Hopefully it will still be showing the fault when I take it to the garage but the dreaded sod's law may prevail and I won't be able to get a beep out of it. Joe

I have a skoda fabia estate 1.9 diesel (Sept 2005) with factory fitted parking sensors. 2 days ago when I put it into reverse the full warning tone sounded. Checked the back of the car nothing their and cleaned the 4 sensor surfaces. Every time I put the car into reverse the full close warning signal starts. Any ideas where to start looking for the fault would be helpful. Joe

2 cheques for £110.19 (£220.36) arrived today so I can't complain, they have paid out the amount they said they would and have done it very quickly considering there has been a Christmas and New Year holiday. The car was fixed on Dec 20th and the cheques are dated 3rd January Joe

I have a skoda fabia 1.9 TDI (Sept 2005) I have a Warranty Direct extended warranty where because of the age of the car I have to pay 20% towards the parts and £50 per claim. It does cover wear and tear. I started to have problems with the hand break holding, took it to the garage thinking it was just a hand break adjustment but they found the break activating arms on the rear calipers had seized one completely the other working at 10% The job has been covered by the insurers. It cost me £360 and I have been offered £220 towards the job. After deducting 20% from the parts and £50 per claim I could not get a figure as low as theirs. I queried the calculation to be told they were counting it as one claim per caliper and had therefore deducted 2 x £50 which maid there offer figure correct. You never know whats covered till you make a claim though on the + side I should be getting a cheque for £220 which is about what I paid for a years cover

Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDI Sept 2005. Both the rear disk brake caliper hand break actuating arms have seized. The garage said one was completely seized and the other was only working at about 10%. I thought it just needed a hand break adjustment when I took it into the garage. Fortunately most of the cost has been covered by an extended warranty. Both calipers have been replaced but how do I stop it happening again.

Running a Skoda Fabia TDI 1.9 on a 55 plate 70000 miles on clock. Drove to airport 90 miles away journey OK car parked (not under cover) for one week. On drive home was getting a lot of steering wheel vibration (and could feel vibration through the accelerator ) between about 55 to 65mph so kept speed to about 50 and got home OK. Next day car was OK with no steering wheel vibration. Quite a lot of water and leaves lying in front scuttle below windscreen so had obviously rained while we were away. I can only assume the damp has got in somewhere. No warning lights came on and the car had passed its MOT only 10 days previously. Any possible suggestions of what the problem may be if it happens again Joe.

The advice I got from the guy who refurbished the wheels was to put on loads of wax polish which makes it easier to wash the rims and NEVER use an acid based cleaner. He had heard of dodgy car wash firms who use neat acid to clean the rims quickly and one of the guys in the pub had used some product on his car that melted the balancing weights. So home washing from now on as I hope to trade the car in later this year for the 1.6/1.9 diesel Fabia car and get the cruise control fitted. The estate had it already fitted it helps me keep to the 30 limit and I average 45 mpg round town and much better on a longer run.

Have been having to top the air up in the 2 rear tyres about once a week. Took it to garage who removed tyres and told me the glaze inside was badly corroded causing air to leak out . Have had all the wheels acid dipped, corrosion removed, re-powdered and glazed problem solved but cost £250 to fix but now look mint on the car and no air leaks. Anyone had similar problems or have I just been unlucky Joe

I have a skoda fabia 1.9 diesel. Was getting a strange sighing sound when I turned the engine off. Turns out that there is a vacuum activated engine stop valve (stops the engine from running on after u turn the ignition off) and what I was hearing the air going back in to break the vacuum after the engine stopped. It could be that the motor/engine/pipe that creates the vacuum is not working properly.

I have a Fabia 1.9 TDi diesel estate which will be 5 yrs old in September with just over 60000 miles on the clock. Over the last couple of months I had noticed what I thought was the cooling fan running on for a few seconds after I turned the engine off .So the other day I opened the bonnet before turning the engine off. The cooling fan was not running turned the engine off and what sounded like a fan/pump running was coming from the back of the engine. Wonder if anyone might have any idea what it could be. What's worrying me is it seems to be taking longer for the sound to stop when I turn the engine off. The car is running great just don't like strange noises, it worries me

Last year I had the car serviced by the main dealer and no oil sign at the half way point. This year as it was out of warrenty so I went to an independent garage, may be thats why you pay £xxxxxxxxx to the main dealer they know how to reset the counter. I will just have to pay the lower cost to the independent and get them to rest the counter next time )

I am having the same problem the spanner and oil sign came up 5 months after my last full service at which time the oil and filter were changed. It's done 5,000 since the last service. Last year it did 10,000 miles between services with no oil and spanner sign coming on at the half way mark. As far as I know the car is set up to have its oil changed every 10,000 miles or 12 months whichever comes first. Is this a cunning plan by Skoda to get you to change your oil and filter every 5,000 miles

Finding things out I did not know about my car Not quite on topic but I had to replace the stop bulb pulled the rear light cluster out to replace it and found that the indicator light is a yellow bulb dread to think how expensive it is to replace I suppose its obvious really as its covered by clear plastic just never stopped to think about it . Must look for the shelf under the steering wheel have found all the other cubbyholes though never found one in the rear hatch must have another look. There you go I found the boot as well when I opened it

Found them very use full on cold winters mornings before the engine heats up and after a long shift it helps my back to relax
