  1. Yup all good there and air con has been working fine today since the above fixes were carried out!
  2. And another seemingly final update here for anyone struggling as much as I was to find answers in the future...found this video: which allowed me to understand the "loose nut" issue more clearly and whipped off the wheel arch liner (just the bottom part is enough for this) and saw I had no bolt in the compressor at all...so with the assumption it was stripped of splines as the video shows I popped a bolt in with loctite just to see if it was actually stripped and hey presto...cold air again. So before you go buying a new compressor just spend 20 minutes...wheel off, liner out and check your compressor bolt....2013 facelift Octavia Scout for posterity. If it fails again I will update here with the replacement shear plate kit the chaps in the video offer.
  3. For anyone else who lost there AC light/control from the button...found this on a Golf thread....press and hold AC button AND rear defrost button for two minutes continuously. This apparently "resets" the system...I now at least have the light back on and ac compressor coming on with the button again which is more than I found elsewhere. Back to trouble shooting why the air con is not cold. https://www.golfmk7.com/forums/index.php?threads/new-climate-control-unit-coding.369130/
  4. Morning Folks, I trust all are well? With the help of the info on the forum I have managed to run some basic diagnostics on my 2013 FL Octavia Scout's air con system but fear I may have done more damage than help... My air con was not blowing cold so I had it pressur tested and re filled. Tests showed no leaks and that it was down to circa 300g of gas. The re fill did not resolve my issues so I ran through some OBD Eleven bits to see what I could find: I reset flap end stops which made some noises but still no air con. The I tried the procedure to reset the entire air con system as if it were a new install as per: Basic Setting Note:*The basic setting needs to be performed, when the Climatic control module (J301) or flap motor(s) have been replaced. Adapt flap end stops Necessary when flap motors are replaced -or- when a self check needs to be performed for self diagnosis of faulty motors. [Select] [08 - Heating/Air Conditioning] [Basic Settings - 04] Select "Adapt flap end stops" from the drop-down list [Go!] The basic setting takes approximately 20 seconds. Finished Correctly should be displayed [Stop] [Done, Go Back] [Close Controller, Go Back - 06] AC Compressor First Run-In Necessary when the Climatic control module (J301) is replaced. Adapt flap end stops*as described above. [Basic Settings - 04] Select "Compressor Run In; Automatic Start" from the drop-down list. [Go!] It will show completed, but wait 120 sec (2 Min) and observe the flashing A/C button light on the HVAC panel. After the Basic Settings has completed, the A/C light will quit flashing and the fault code will clear. [Stop] Note:*If Basic Settings reports Error the module may need to see an Adaptation change before this can be completed. Go to Adaptation and change "Driving time for compressor run in" from 120 -to- 120 and save it followed by repeating the entire procedure Climatronic _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Coding Coding information is found using the*Long Coding Helper*while connected to the vehicle with VCDS. When replacing a module it is recommended to save the original coding and transfer it to the new module. Manual heating + cooling -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Coding This module does not support coding! Basic Setting The Manual Heating/Air Conditioning controller does not require a scan tool to perform the Basic Settings for the Activation of the A/C Compressor, please use the following instructions below. Position the blower switch to the first or second speed Position the air distribution control to 'Vent' Position the interior temperature control to 'Cold', turn to the stop Start the Vehicle's engine while in Park/Neutral Simultaneously press/ hold the AC and Defrost buttons until the AC and recirculation buttons illuminate Cycle the ignition and check for fault codes in the 08-Auto HVAC and proper HVAC system operation. Special Notes This procedure above, must be competed when: The J301-Air conditioning system control unit is replaced. The fault code*00898-005 will not clear. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/B109E Now I get the error "A/C compressor first run not performed" and now I have no green light appearing when I press the air con button....help please?!
