  1. I am thinking of renewing my 2016 SE L diesel manual shortly for the latest Octavia SE L. A lot has changed with cars in the last 9 years so I would like some feedback from owners in the UK. I’m particularly interested in how functional and reliable the infotainment is. My 2016 MK3 has control knobs for the heating and A/C whereas the new one is buttons. Is the satnav still updated to an SD card from the update portal website. Do owners have issues with the infotainment freezing or crashing. I read there were issues. What about the safety features like lane assist and speed limiters. Do they work well, if left on do you get constant bongs going 1mph over. Do people just turn them off and if so how easy is it to do so. Mechanically, how reliable are they still. My MK3 has never caused issues. I would be sticking to diesel but would go automatic this time. Anyone like me that previously had a MK3 I would particularly like to hear their feedback. Thanks.
  2. Well to my mind for all the bells and whistles of the MK4 I prefer to keep my MK3 especially since I don’t pay road tax as it is a 2016. I have read a lot of bad things on this forum about ropey software too. I can continually update the sat nav to an SD card as well whereas you have to pay for OTA updates on the MK4.
  3. I was thinking of upgrading my MK 3 Octavia SE L soon and was looking at the specs. One of the features that was standard on my one the high beam control (Light assist) is seemingly a £179 optional extra now. I find that quite disappointing. I'm sure when the MK4 was released it originally did have this as standard. It seems at the moment the specs change on a regular basis as a short time ago the website said that another feature the 'fatigue warning' was an option extra and now it's back to being standard. Maybe I should wait a while and see if the light assist becomes a standard again on the SE L.
  4. I wasn’t aware of that. I will investigate further. Many thanks.
  5. Waze or Google maps is only ok if you have a smart phone and a large data allowance. I have a smart phone but I am only a light user so use it as PAYG. It would cost me a small fortune to use a mapping app.
