Claim under Warranty outwith dates
Hiya, Looking to see if anyone has had an success with this? My car's warranty runs out on 10th October however this morning (23/09) the TPMS system showed a fault. I phoned my local Skoda garage to get it booked in for repair and the next available date is the 25th November!! They wouldn't even let me just drop the car off on the chance a technician would be free at somepoint to have a quick look. I suspect the TPMS fault would be covered under warranty so someone suggested contacting VWFS to let them know as they may cover any claim outwith the warranty period given I have attempted to get it booked in but can't. I did ask them to check other garages and none within 80miles radius of where I stay in Scotland have any space before 10th October. I was also told it had to be a Skoda garage so couldn't goto a VW or Seat one. I have emailed VWFS but not anticiapting much success. Just wondering if anyone has had this scenario and any success. Worst case I will just go to my trusted independant who won't charge me the usual main dealer prices. Thanks,

Noise like a Crow from rear
Just for information I have had the car in a local Škoda garage and they found the problem. A clogged haldex oil filter. despite getting the haldex oil changed regularly as per Skoda schedule the filter has clogged. The garage say it’s a reusable filter so it doesn’t get changed and just checked at oil changes.

Noise like a Crow from rear
Hi, thanks. It seems to be when I take my foot off the accelerator mainly. I’ll get it back in the garage asap. It is under warranty too but regardless it should t cost me (hopefully).

Noise like a Crow from rear
Hi, my Superb Estate 4x4 has started to make an odd noise very intermittently. Just very occasionally on a journey is makes a noise which sounds like a Crow cawwing. The noise comes from the rear and I assume (rightly or wrongly) it’s related to the Haldex system. it also a has a very low level whine sometimes when pulling away but it disappears quickly. I’ll get it into my local garage but just wondering if anyone has had something similar? It has a full Skoda history and had the 4x4 oil changed in January but the noise started about a month ago. No difference in power, economy or lights on the dash to indicate anything wrong just this weird noise.

New engine?
For anyone interested my local independent garage has found the fault. Turns out a rocket has broken on cylinder 3 which has closed one of the valves. This in turn has damaged the camshaft and cam cover. So thankfully not a new engine. Camshaft assembly was £1500 however, but cheaper than anticipated. Local official VW parts company that my garage got the part from said they have sold two others in last 6 months. Not massive numbers but obviously something that has failed before. Sorry rocker not rocket….

New engine?
Absolutely, the garage got it running and that’s when they heard the severe knocking.

New engine?
It does start so hopefully the latter. Just sounds awful and has a severe knocking from the top end.

New engine?
Fingers crossed my local garage can sort it without an engine change. Thanks everyone for your advice.

New engine?
That price was from the Skoda dealer for a brand new engine. I’ve had the car moved to the other garage I use and he’s going to have a look at it. If it is a new engine refurb or recon seems the obvious way to go. the only concern I have is I have no experience of these. I assume if I find a decent reputable one then it’s all fine? one has quote £2k for supply of recon engine which although expensive still a lot less than the dealer.

New engine?
Hi, I am looking for some advice? I have been a loyal Skoda customer for a number of years currently on my 4th car from the brand. I have a Superb estate SEL Exec 4x4 190ps TDI which is a great car. It has had full Skoda dealer servicing except the timing belt which was done at a local VW specialist as the water pump failed (known design fault with the pump, but it was due anyway). It is just over 5 years old and 57k mileage. a couple of weeks ago the engine died and I had to be recovered. The garage have looked at it and say a rocker has broken damaging a valve in the engine. This means a new engine, which I’m shocked at given the usual reliability of the 2.0l Diesel engines. Unlucky I guess! I have no warranty left having run out a couple of months ago. Garage are quoting me £12500 to replace it. given it’s age, mileage and full Skoda history I’d like have thought I might get a little help or goodwill from Skoda but no. I understand I maybe stuck here and I could try and push Skoda for something (I’m not expecting them to pay it all, but that is a lot of money). can anyone give any advice if I have any avenues on this or just need to suck it up? thanks
