  1. Yes both were Aylesbury (Bristol Street) Skoda. I didn't take a photo with the cover off unfortunately, but I think the original photo shows all they need to know. I'll be having words tomorrow. Thanks
  2. Cheers for the diagrams, I've been out, removed the cover and bingo, it's the green highlighted pipe. Clipped the pipe back on and tested it, all sorted. Thanks for the help 👍
  3. Hi, Just had my Octy back from a service and it's making a new turbo flutter type noise, audible in the car. I opened the bonnet and found a loose pipe. 4 weeks till Skoda Aylesbury can fit me in to look at it, just checking if this could cause the noise, and if it's easy to refit. I can't immediately see where it's supposed to go. Any help gratefull received. Thanks
  4. Hi, I have a similar issue with my Skoda Octavia 2012 VRS Estate TSI 2.0 DSG However, looking at some videos of this issue on YouTube, it seems that the issue should be reproducible when the car is stationary. My rattle happens at around 2.5k revs just before the DSG box changes up a gear but doesn't do it when rev testing parked on the drive. Started a year ago when coming back from a long trip to France. Oddly, it doesn't seem to do it when the DSG box is in sport mode (although could be that it just powers through the 2.5k rev zone too quickly to notice it) Any ideas? Thanks
  5. It has always used a fair bit, need to top up monthly to keep it above the line. The issue I have appeared after a trip down a bumpy track and seems worse in the damp. Thanks Pete
  6. Hi, Fitted the coil pack and thought it was all sorted, but when I started the car from cold this morning, the problem was back. Moved the new pack from cylinder 2 to 3 as the Dealer was initially a bit confused as to which cyclinder had the misfire. Still the same problem. Sorts itself out after about 15 minutes and the car is fine again When the car is first started, its almost like a rhythmic pulsing of the engine, not sure if this is the misfire, or is another problem that is causing the pulsing and leading to an occasional misfire that is noted by the ECU. Maybe something was shaken loose somewhere. There is also an unburnt petrol smell from the exhaust. The dealer originally said that they suspected a faulty igniter, but I have not heard that term used before... Thanks Pete
  7. Thanks, will whip it out now and have a look and a snif. Will also disconnect it while running lumpy to make sure its the right one. Pete
  8. Hi, I have a 2006 Octavia VRS which has developed a problem after travelling down a bumpy track. When cold, there is a constant rhythmic misfire which clears itself after about 15 minutes of warming up. Once warmed up, the car operates perfectly. It seems to be worse on damp mornings The engine management light comes on, but sometimes goes off again and sometimes flashes. I took it to a dealer who checked for errors and found a misfire on cylinder 2, they checked all the spark plugs and tightened the igniter, but the problem is still there. They suspect a faulty igniter but are not sure. Recently, I have noticed a slight burning smell from the rear of the engine so think it might be insulation break don somewhere or a coil. I originally thought that the bumpy track has dislodged something, removed a vacuum hose or that the Lambda sensor had taken a knock. Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks Pete
  9. I have put off the radio upgrade for the moment. Many thanks to Stu for the cruise control, works a charm
  10. Yep, I have a feeling I won't get a reply from him, its not urgent, I can get by with the FM transmitter for a few weeks until I make a decision. What is interresting is seeing other members having had the cruise control retro-fitted, something to think about
  11. Hi, yes, I have a FM transmitter but you still get some annoying hiss/crackle with interferrence in traffic, etc. I am looking at a Stream MP3 currently on Ebay and have asked the seller if he has the code for it. But as you say, if it goes for silly money, then it would be best to look at a decent system. Thanks
  12. Thanks for the quick reply, I wasn't quite sure as there are aux control settings in the menu on the radio oh well, I have a transmitter that I can use for now.
  13. Hi, just joined, bought a 1 year old VRS Octavia today. I have a question though, the other used Octavia VRS I have seen have a centre console and aux input in there, the one I have has no big centre console and no sign of an aux input but the aux controls are in the radio. Is it just a matter of removing the radio, fitting a fly lead to a connector and mounting it somewhere convenient? The Radio is a Stream unit with a 6 cd changer in the boot. Thanks
