Hello,
I have a 2015 Octavia 1.6 TDI CR Elegance 5d 7 speed DSG 66,000 miles.
Driving home one evening after about 15 minutes of gentle driving, mostly 30mph my car went into limp mode. It didn't display any warnings but as I was only a few hundred yards from my house I nursed it home and switched it off. I took it my local garage and had them check for faults and it had stored a transmission temperature warning fault at the time that It had gone into limp mode.
For the next 2-3 weeks the car ran perfectly without any faults and then one morning I started it began to drive and then on my dash which just said Gearbox and then another fault saying Front Assist and the car wouldn't change from 2nd gear even when attempting with the semi auto mode on the gear stick. It would just drive up to the limiter in 2nd. I switched it off and then restarted and it was completely fine.
I bought a cheap OBD-II scanner so I could check for faults if it happens again. A few weeks later it happened again immediately after starting so I scanned it and got fault code P283C - Shift fork "C" Position Circuit Range Performance.
It's happened 2 more time both as soon as the car is started and driven. However one of those times it would change between even gear numbers skipping 1 3 5 7. Always with both the gearbox fault and Front Assist fault. Both the gearbox and front assist work normally.
The strangest thing to me is that it's both a Front assist and Gearbox fault together.
Has anybody else had this issue and or know what's causing it.
Many thanks
Adam
