Hello all!
I'm new here on Briskoda, and this is my first post 👋
I was wondering if anyone had tangible knowledge regarding camshaft phase adaptation values.
I have a 2010 Octavia VRS estate, 2.0tsi.
I bought the car last year and have always been a bit nervous regarding the chain and tensioner issues I keep reading about.
So recently I bought an OBDeleven pro kit to read through any stored faults and check the phase value.
My car has 120,000+ miles, so I was ready to be slightly concerned or even horrified by the number it gave me, however over two days the camshaft phase is consistently reading between -0.67° and -0.79°
I have had my suspicions that the chain or at very least the tensioner has been done in the past and i just dont have the paperwork for it, based on some weak evidence around the upper chain cover suggesting it has been opened up.
I'm still going to pull the plug off the cover and visually inspect the tensioner when I'm next under the car.
But based entirely on the cars milage vs phase value, would it be too bold of me to assume that someone at some point fitted the revised chain?
Thank you.
