  1. Its booked in, getting timing belt done as well. Thanks again!
  2. Thanks again everyone, one other query observed after I took the car out for a run again and let the temperature gauge settle at 90 degrees, after driving further the temperature started to rise again and around 100 degrees, opened windows and put heating on at "HI" this then dropped back down to 90. However shortly after this it started dropping even more until it was around 75-80 degrees at one stage, does that sound normal and also in relation to water pump failure? I have never seen the temperature gauge fall back below 90 degrees during normal driving. I also must add that the lowest it went to in the 70-80 degrees was after I stopped at a junction. Once heating is switched off the temperature does rise each time shortly after. It is booked into a mechanic, however I was just trying to find out about the temperature falling below the 90 degree setpoint as I just found it unusual and something I have never observed before. Thanks again
  3. Thanks everyone, I will (hopefully) get it home this evening and park it up. Have just booked it into my mechanic next week, hopefully that will fix the problem. Thanks again.
  4. Hello everyone, Driving my 2013 Skoda Octavia Elegance TDI yesterday afternoon on motorway, doing 60-70mph cruising along when the centre display between the two main gauges flashed up the red engine overheating warning light, looked at the temperature gauge which was sitting around 120°C so quickly got onto the hard shoulder and brought the car to a halt with engine still running. After about 30 seconds the temp gauge dropped back, not at gradual return but in jerks of what I would compare to 3-5 second intervals if you saw a clock hand, after a few minutes temp was back at 90°C. Sat for a another few minutes before starting my journey again cautiously at the start then did increase speed up to as before 60-70mph. No change in the 90°C until I was nearer the 70mph mark and the needle did slightly go above the 90°C I reduced speed and it dropped back to 90 again almost instantaneously. When I finished my journey I checked coolant levels, which were fine, the reservoir didn’t even feel warm, checked fan still spinning freely by hand and it was and oil levels fine. I also checked for any P error codes via a hand held tester I have, nothing showing. Drove car again today from cold and made the same journey at the same speeds 60-70mph cruising along a motorway and no problems. I did however at one stage try to see what happened when I pushed it to 70mph, and I did observe the temp needle rise a little above 90°C but drop again when I decelerated. No prior issues with the temp in the car, so any ideas what this maybe? Is it a possible fault with the temperature monitoring? Any previous experience or thoughts as to what to do next would be gratefully received. Thanks
