HI,
I have read a bit about others' problems with contaminated coolant. I took my car to a Skoda dealer for a service- (normally I use local garage) and they told me there was contamination in the coolant. Turns out the Silica bag has split...there are a number of other threads about this that I have read. However the Skoda garage wanted to charge me £1300 to flush it through.....I have since approached my local garage and they can do it at a fraction of the price. I am wondering whether they are going to do it sufficiently well? Is there anything I need to be careful of when getting the coolant flushed out and the system cleaned?
It is worth adding the heating is working fine in the car. The only reason I realised something was wrong was the low coolant light comes on but only when the car is cold first thing in the morning. At other times of day the light does not come on even if the car has not been used.
I am a layman and trying to understand this issue and want to ensure the local garage flushes the coolant system adequately. I would appreciate any comments you may have. Thanks a lot.
