  1. Will see what I can do, I did actually pay a couple of quid to get some samples sent to my house, but I'll bet they turn up a day late!
  2. Well it hasn't got sunset glass or anything like that. It's 'untinted' all round, but I'm not sure if that is 70% out of the factory? You mean look at some of his work? I might pop in the day before. Annoying on the day I'm dropping the car off before he starts, as I need to head to work, so I'm not too sure... 35% is safer I think, but as its a black car with lots of large windows, I could regret not going darker. I doubt it, but would be interesting if anyone has relevant experience.
  3. I'm having some tints applied this week and wanted to know if anyone had any thoughts or experiences of 20% vs 35% tints. I'm pretty sure I'll go for 35 as I just want a bit of class and refinement added, I don't want it to look modified or too extreme. It's a black estate with black interior. I have looked through 20 or so other threads on the subject, but no mention of how dark others have gone or recommend. (rear windows and boot only by the way).
  4. Warped discs will judder too, but generally that's more evident with lighter braking. Heavy braking would most likely be ABS if you're not familiar with the feeling?
  5. Thanks ords, that's great. Sorry if repeating threads, but I've only access to a mobile at the moment, which does help me to learn my way round these forums and search functions! Thanks again.
  6. Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has tried to remove some of the road noise from their Octavia? I'm have some sound deadening put in the front doors for an audio upgrade and was wondering if it's worth attacking the rear arches to try and quieten things somewhat?? Is seems it can be quite noisy in the back at speed? Maybe it's the flimsy 'parcel shelf' thing too?
  7. £220 apparently... if it were £150 then I'd probably go for that, but as beautiful as it most likely turn out, that might be a little steep...
  8. Why had that not occurred to me as a possibility?! Google says there is a very good car retrim place fairly local to me, I will ask for a quote today, hopefully not too scary pricey.
  9. Hey all! Looks like I'm joining the Octavia Mk3 club!! I've just paid for a 2018 1.5 TSI SE (although haven't seen it yet...) and I'm here to talk about steering wheels and sound systems. It seemed a good price to me, but when looking at how various websites valued it, it was down compared to other similar Octavias for sale, I can only imagine it' s because of the trim. I don't mind the SE, because I don't fancy many of the add-ons included in other trim levels, but I do think (from sitting in similar Octavias), that I won't be happy with the steering wheel or sound. I sat in two Octavias, one a VRS which seemed to have a great sound to me (though apparently not Candon), and a nice wheel. 2nd Octavia seemed to be completely missing midrange sound (almost to a point where it seemed faulty, but I hear its a thing) and had a cheap feeling wheel. So my questions... Has anyone replaced or stuck a cover on their wheels? You can get genuine leather stitch on covers for like £20, probably beats paying £250 for a second hand VRS wheel. And the other question is can you get in to modern sound systems?!! Back in the day I would replace the head unit and run amps off RCAs, but I can imagine that's likely the right route these days?! I will do some research, but any help helps massively! Excited to get the new car, but I think I'll only be truly happy when I've ironed out one or two of its flaws... Cheers all!
