  1. You are correct, I found it in the thread. Sounds like he's done a re-map and lots of other bits. I think all my son is after is the noise and slightly better throttle response so if this does that maybe I can placate him with it...
  2. It is my car but it is 'the spare' since we bought a Fabia (needed just a bit more room). The Citigo is getting on a bit (144000 miles) so wasn't worth trading in and made sense for DS to use it. I appreciate he shouldn't be getting his own way but I have to live with him. He's like Kevin 'It's SOOOO unfair' all day long 🙄
  3. Well, yes to all the above. Being from the motorcycle industry, I have an idea about cone filters (yes, I'm that old) and general consensus is as mentioned, poor dust filtration and heatsoak. I did find a photo on search that looks like it could be a compromise. I think it's from this forum but can't find the original thread. It looks like this could give the noisier engine sound but paired with a K&N panel filter, still be better for the engine?? If anybody knows the source of this photo, it would be appreciated.
  4. Please help a weary mum! My son currently has the use of my Citigo Elegance 75hp. He really wants to remove the air filter and fit a Ram Air Induction Kit which seems to consist of a foam cone filter and longer breather hose. He likes the idea of a throatier engine note. We are really butting heads over this as I don't want the car modified and if course there are the possible implications with an already scarily expensive insurance policy (he's 20 and been driving 17 months). I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to engines and have a feeling removing the intake resonator will actually reduce performance and fuel economy. As far as I can see, this modification will be a case of 'all mouth and no trousers'. As a compromise would it be better to fit an upgraded panel filter and maybe a straight hose, effectively just removing the resonator but still sucking in relatively cool air instead of the hot air a cone filter would be breathing in? Views, help, peace negotiations? TIA
  5. Hello All, Hubby's Fabia has the tyre pressure sticker missing. The manual says 'refer to the tyre pressure sticker' and shows a helpful diagram of the fuel flap. It isn't there. I thought I'd be helpful and order a replacement but every time I enquire they give me the part number for a sticker that has 1.4 at the top. Hubby's Fabia is a 1.2 TSI 90hp. If anybody has a 2015 1.2 TSI 90hp hatch with 215/45-16 tyres, can you please A) Advise the correct tyre pressures and B) Take a photo of the sticker so I can see the part number and physically show the Skoda dealership. The part number is on the lower right corner. Thank you in advance!
  6. Hello all! Hubby has a 2015 Mk3 Fabia. The permanent live in the cigarette lighter socket is causing problems as he sometimes forgets to unplug things. He's a long distance lorry driver so his car can sit at work for several days, quietly draining the battery which frankly is a PITA. I realise the easy solution is to always remember to unplug it but as we all know, sometimes you've just got other stuff on your mind. I've seen a few posts regarding how to change this to a switched live but could really do with a layman's guide if anybody has managed to get this to work. We have a 63 plate Citigo also that doesn't have this feature thankfully so I can't understand why they decided to change it. Out of our three vehicles, the Fabia, annoyingly, is the only one that does this. Any info much appreciated.
  7. Hello! My hubby has a 2015 Fabia lll, 1.2 TSI 90hp SE L. We are sick of paying through the nose for 215/45R16 tyres and not being able to fit the tyre we have fitted to our other cars. We also live out in the sticks which means a 15" would be a more comfortable and practical size. My question is, if we can get our hands on a set of 15" alloys as fitted to the same car but in a SE spec that take the more popular 185/60R15 tyres will they be a straight swap? Any advice much appreciated. Many thanks!

  9. Worth a shot... 🙂 I guess I'll just get the tyres done next week and let the garage do their thing. I may have a go at doing the discs and brakes myself (can it really be that difficult? I'm not completely inept) then torqueing up carefully and praying to every deity that it'll all be ok!
  10. Thank you Chris, that makes sense. So, do you think the damage is done? Do I need to replace the hubs or do you reckon they are salvageable? The car is due to have new tyres fitted next week so do I need to flutter my eyelashes at the mechanic and ask him to be gentle? 😉 So I'm assuming if the hubs can be salvaged I can get away with fitting EBC discs and pads (won't go OE again) in theory all should be well...
  11. Hi all, Not a newbie really but new computer and lost all my logins - Briskoda doesn't respond to any of my email addresses so I've had to start afresh. I am hoping somebody can help with my dreadful brakes. I am well aware there's an ongoing fault with Citigo brakes being made of chocolate or something like that but I'd like some advice. Citigo 75hp on a 63 plate. Had replacement warranty discs at 6 months old then fine until a few years later when we fitted EBC discs and pads. Been fine for several thousand miles until last year when it failed the mot. The garage replaced them (don't know what with, they said OE) but literally 3 months later they were wobbling again. We argued with the garage and managed to get them changed under warranty but then, pretty much another 3 months later it happens again. I've put up with them but it's driving me mad. I have done SO much research and, according to many posts, it doesn't seem to matter what brand you fit, it happens again - this suggests it's not actually the discs at fault. I found something on another forum that suggested it was a fault with the hubs and that only the 2011-2015 models were affected but I've checked the EPC and the part number is the same for all models with no supersession (I'm in motorcycle parts so sort of have an idea how it works). This theory seems to make sense so I am wondering could this be the solution? Do I fit new hubs, bearings, discs and pads? The mot is due in January and I know it will fail but I don't want to shell out for discs and pads again just for it to happen again 3 months down the line. Has anybody heard anything regarding this theory or please, if anybody has a solution please let me know. Thank you in advance.
