  1. I had similiar problem, realised it wasn't due to the remote. Took it to my Skoda Garage where purchased and they advised the tailgate relay was faulty, replaced and been perfect ever since. Snobbie45
  2. I thought most of the recent Fabias had heated jets on the windscreen washers,up here in Scotland the temperatures are usually well down in the winter. However my 57 plate Fabia 1.9td Elegance has heated jets and heated mirrors, I think the fuel filter is heated as well. Pity it doesn't have a heated front windscreen the same as my 1996 AutoSleeper Motorhome based on LWB Ford Transit 2.5 TD, spose you can't have everything! Best regards Snobbie45 (Brian)
  3. Had to go out yesterday 12 miles in the middle of a'Whiteout' on country roads in rural Perthshire in Scotland. Starting straight up 3 mile steepish hill, after anti-skid indicator came on for first 5 yards every thing was perfect grip. even when I had to slow up rather quick, '1 car upside down at side of road, the car following it too closely had to swerve lost it and went through fence into field 40 yards further on. 2 badly injured in overturned Audi, I injured in new Fiesta in field. My 1.9td Fabia 1 estate stuck like glue even when Ambulance and Police car came 'racing up on wrong side of road'! Normally don't make a habit of going out in the middle of a 'Whiteout' but it was an emergency with my wife. At least it proved the superb balance and grip of my Fabia 1.9td Elegance estate in those conditions. Snobbie45 (Brian)
  4. Think ourselves very lucky that we have the option to change motor insurers or get alternative quotes when we wish! In Denmark when you buy a car,new or second-hand, you are assigned a company who you must stay with as long as you own that car!! I won't tell you the cost of the insurance or the road taxation cost, some guys on the forum might have heart conditions! Best regards Snobbie45 (Brian)
  5. Maybe I have one of the best. One of the last Mk1 Fabia estates, Aircon and Sunroof, Cruise control, heated seats, heated mirrors and heated windscreen washers, excellent boot, 15inch easyclean 'Band' Alloy wheels, superb 1.9TD engine with good accelleration and torque. Best of all, no problems in over 2 years use including 2- 6week trips round Scandinavia, cruising at 100mph on the Danish and Swedish Motorways. Distinctive on 'Orange Metalic'- pick it out in any car park among all the silver, black and navy blue cars! Best Regards Snobbie45 (Brian)
  6. Hi Torwood, I don't think you need to panic, I just returned from a 6 week tour of Denmark and Sweden with my 1.9TDI Fabia Elegance Estate Over there you must drive with Dipped Headlights all the time, even in full sunshine! You don't really forget to put them on, and on the very odd occasion if you forget, the Danes or Swedes will flash to remind you. The older cars did not have the auto 'Lights on' with the ignition so some of these guys get 'Flashed' as well by their own countrymen! Enjoy your trip Snobbie45 (Brian)
  7. 1st time I had dealt with Thomson and Potter when I decided to change my car to a Skoda 1.9td Fabia Elegance Estate after reading owners reports. I sold my previous car privately, so I called in and spoke to Alan Mauchline the Sales Manager. I knew exactly the colour plus all the extras I wanted and took in the list with me. Because of the Spec with factory fitted extras,Alan said it would have to be a Factory special order. However since he had an Estate on order he would contact them to see if the colour and specs could be changed. This he did and also took the list of Dealer fitted accessories. Alan couldn't have been more helpful and kept me in the picture regarding delivery. Pre-delivery checks were all perfect and Alan even collected me from my home since their was no direct bus service to the dealers. On collection, he went over all the details of the car and fitted accessories with me. The car has been superb since collection on 1st September with the engine torque fantastic. I have not been back since collecting the car but when I do I am sure the aftersales service will be just as good! Snobbie45 (Brian)
  8. Hi all, Just found the site, can hardly wait for delivery of my new Fabia 1.9Tdi Elegance Estate on 1st Sept.I should at least be able to locate it in any car park, because it is in the distinctive colour of Tangerine metallic! I am already enjoying the site, I also have an old Daihatsu Fourtrack that I use for towing our Caravan and it comes in very handy if the winter weather gets too bad up here in rural Perthshire,Scotland. Use the Daihatsu Drivers Club website Great to read all the info. Snobbie45 ( 70yrs young)
