  1. Hi my phone and my partners pixel phone had issues with Android auto updates recently causing the device to no longer connect. It would actually throw check compatibility warnings on the infotainment screen. Anyway, after excluding the USB cable as an issue, I ran through steps 5 to 6 here and I was able to get everything connected and setup again. Select to forget all cars paired in Android auto Clear the app cache and delete the data Make sure you have the latest update installed Plug back in and pair
  2. Thanks for the Information @ApertureS and @KenONeillI have not gone down any legal route yet. I have been caught out by the retailer already and I had to return the car to them 3 times in 2 months, hence I immediately think about my legal rights. A Skoda technician came to the house due to issues with the car and I am heading into the local retailer in the morning. I was going to include a question about this while they review the other issues but I wanted to be prepared with the forum's members advice. I will leave out discussing this in the morning. Thanks again 👍
  3. Hi all, I was wondering if you could give me some advice on the attached image with regards to rust and any idea on whether you think it's appropriate or not for a 4 year old car (29k miles on the clock). All the other parts of the engine bay look brand new. To me this part looks like the metal has completely started to rust like it's on a 20 year old car. I can even see rust dust in the area. I am thinking of using the consumer rights act (Faulty - satisfactory quality - Skoda approved dealer) because I am still within the six months of the purchase date. I cannot see how they can say it was okay on inspection and for its age when every other part looks in good condition. Thanks again for your advice
  4. Yeah not the best experience on my first purchase from an approved used car dealer. I really needed a break with all that's going on in life (health issues, bills rising, landlord issues, work life/balance issues). I have one week left before the 30 days are up with the purchase. I have only driven around 300 miles since having it.
  5. I have found a local dealer who will copy the key and clone the codes to an after market 3 button key in Bristol. The costs seem to range from 150 to 180 for an after market key. As for complaints I have spoken to customer services via Twitter and well its fair to say they basically just pass on my messages. I did call them out and ask is it not there job to ensure these retailers meet the standards of Skoda. To which they replied: We apologise that you have not yet received any feedback to your question. I apologise for your experience with the retailer, this is not how we wish to hear that our customer's have been treated. To answer your question about our role: At Customer Services we: - Aim to provide customers with the most efficient assistance and resolutions where possible. - We are not financially regulated at Customer Services, and thus are unable to help customer's with any financial related matters such as, quotes, discounts or goodwill, but will transfer them to the relevant teams. - We do not have access to the Vehicle Management Systems to any of our franchised retailer's as they are run independently. - We help with customer complaints and escalate them where needs be to an executive team who can expedite any claims or dissatisfaction from customer's which are beyond our expertise to influence the outcomes which would otherwise demand the action or confirmation from the executives.
  6. HI All, I have noticed my Skoda Octavia 1ltr TSI engine sounds a lot louder than I would have expected after being warmed up. Please could you take 2 mins to review the attached video of the sound and let me know your thoughts? Engine noise video (Google album link) The AA team recommended I call https://www.ace-uk.website/ but I am trying to look for a local VW/Skoda specialist garage.
  7. I was walked all over unfortunately, when I asked about another key to the sales advisor she just walked into the manager who gave her a price of £300 pounds to get another key copied/made. She then relayed that quote to me. I tried to get Skoda UK on board to set standards but they are pretty much useless. Skoda UK called the centre and they reiterated I would have to purchase another key.
  8. I have just purchased an approved used Skoda Octavia estate MK3 from the centre and I had been treated nicely during the paperwork but on delivery of the car I have learnt their sales department and technicians pulled a trick on me by not completing a majority of the 100 point checks. Including not covering the 4 years service and maintenance recommendations from the Skoda guidance on the the UK Skoda website. To top it off there was no wheel nut lock key and I was pretty much told I should be lucky with all the money spent on the number plates and emergency tyre repair kit after discussing the missed service and maintenance. Oh and they only gave me one car key, so I was told it could cost £300 to get a spare. I have had to chase my end after explaining the 100 point items they have missed and its taken a week to get them to agree taking the car back to do the checks. I will update this review further after these check are complete and my experience.
  9. Hi All, on purchasing a car from a approved Skoda dealer they only told me last min that there was only one key 🤬. I am looking to purchase a spare remote key. I have only discovered the Timpson site as an option. But so far everything is super expensive: Manufacture original remote key is £254 to £503 Non branded key is £186 Has anyone recently purchase a spare key or have suggestions on a site I should use?
  10. sorry I have derailed this thread/conversation about the 7 speed DSG with my last comment about the car checks. Please ignore.
  11. Hi @toot it was on the Approved used cars list from Skoda and I went to the franchise to test drive and purchase it. I have 12 month's warranty included. However, with all the wear and tear clauses I doubt the DSG would be covered. Latest doc from Skoda on used car warranty After a call today they have agreed to take the car back and do the checks again as I have found a fair amount of items missed. I have also noticed from your last post that they did not cover the maintenance and servicing advised by Skoda for a 4 year period before I purchased the car. This is something to discuss once their after sales individual contacts me to arrange a day to visit and review the car again.
  12. @toot Thank you, that's great information on the service and maintenance schedule. Yes there is some serious penny pinching on a car that cost me 16k to buy. I have a phone call booked today with them. I am already not happy that they have not really covered any of the 100 point checks they suggested when buying from a Skoda dealer. In fact they made a effort to trick me into not getting a copy. Which is why I have a call today. I get a 1 year warranty on purchasing from the dealer which I will need to check if it covers the DSG. If I remember rightly it hardly covers anything.
  13. Hi @toot, thanks for all the great information. It was the sales guy who told me the gear box is not the sealed one and that he checked the Elsa system. Then only after signing for the car they informed me it was sealed and the agreed oil change was not required. I also asked for the spark plugs to be changed and instead they just checked they are still okay. @ords I am worried about the gear box only lasting 3 to 4 more years on the car. It has 27k miles on the clock admittedly but it is not age or miles but rather gear changes (city driving) that affects the life of the gear box. If the gear box does eventually starts to play up in 3 to 4 years, is that damage done or simply a matter of visiting a gear box specialist to have the oil changed?
  14. Thanks @RoddersUK and @Esseesse200, Do you know where I can find out the DSG version I have installed? I am worried it is the 7sp DQ200.
  15. Hi All, I have just purchased a Skoda Octavia (mk3 2018) and I was initially told it was a wet gear box and I haggled an oil change. However on the final signature of the paper work they proceeded to tell me no oil change was required as it's a sealed dry gear box. Clearly I was tricked. Where would I look to check which version I have on a 1 litre TSI? He also said all new Skoda Octavia's have sealed for life gear boxes. Is this true?
