  1. I had this applied free after a lengthy negotiation when I bought my Yeti and was supplied with a lovely bag of replacement polish and waxes etc. from AutoGlym. To be honest the finish seemed no better than had you done it yourself and it soon wore off. I was offered a similar treatment on my Qashqai and again a zipper bag of waxes and polishes, this faired no better than the treatment on the Yeti, but the bag of cleaning product has saved me money, but would I have been happy with either car if I had paid over £200, then the answer is NO I am pleased you got the bill reduced, it's a con if you did not ask for it. But I bet they do not give you the free bag of goodies, but I could sell you some
  2. Yes I will join the club as well. Mk 4 Cortina coming off the M1 near Barnsley a drain cover somehow shot up and hit the underside of my car as I drove over it. A few miles on and the oil warning light came on, there was a hole in the sump, it took four days before the car was back on the road. No one as usual would except any responsibility
  3. My Qashqai runs on 19 inch wheel with 225x45 tyres, very low profile, but still rides better than the 17 inch wheels as on my previous and recently tried Yeti, and yes the obsession with large wheels and low profile tyres is ruining the ride quality on most cars. I dread to think how the Yeti would feel with a 19 inch wheel set up. Someone needs to get across to designers that sporty looks and clinging onto the road at all costs are more important than ride and comfort.
  4. My wife has always had a soft spot for the Yeti and as our Octavia is now almost 10 years old with 190k on the clock, decided to try out the 1.4 model with a L & K in her sights. However after a test drive she said how she had forgotten how poor the ride and road noise was, so I am now looking at a 1.6 petrol Qashqai and she will drive our current Qashqai 1.2 model. Shame really as I like the Yeti shape and the easy parking with all around glass. We also considered a new Octavia, but she thought this was now too long compared to our original one, so sadly we look like being Skoda less for some time now
  5. This link arrived in my inbox this morning relating to the diesel issues. https://www.carfused.com/articles/vw-scandal-your-questions-answered?MediaCode=806&utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=Newsletter_MR_October_2015=&utm_content=Newsletter1012
  6. My Yeti was Rosso and Gobi and everyone I saw commented on it, a lovely combination. I was tempted to go for the Nissan Nightshade when I ordered my QQ, similar on paper to Rosso but in real life does not classy and the black only leather in the QQ does not have the wow of the Gobi. I would not be surprised to see me having Rosso again when the second gen. Yeti comes out, but no doubt the colour will be dropped by then.
  7. One of my neighbours at our holiday home has just took delivery of a Jungle Green model with a lovely brown interior which go together very well, an impressive combination
  8. Hi Jock: Another member from the Yeti meet and no longer a Yeti owner. It was a great day meeting everyone, perhaps we should do a "car" meet sometime soon, it would be good to see everyone again and look at the cars...Regards Jon
  9. Yes I got similar with my Qashqai on its first service. Dropped off car, drove home the loan car and later in the day received an email saying I could watch my car being worked on via a link. You could see and hear the technician as he lifted the bonnet, did what was needed and passed comments as he went along. A very impressive service and what all dealers should be doing.
  10. I couldn't agree more, although this is a Yeti forum it is also a motoring forum where owners of a Yeti or any other car for that matter dip in and out of to read comments and what other owners are saying. Sadly if anyone moving away from a Yeti is discouraged from posting the forum will just be a love affair with the car and no one will get the benefit of finding what other manufacturers cars are like, be it good or bad, and as the poster has said owners comments are always better than motoring press reviews. Obviously no one who has purchased another model is going to keep coming back discussing their own new car, it is just the initial findings and reviews that are posted as Marie has been doing. I keep coming back to all the Skoda forums because I want to see what is developing in the Skoda range for when I change to the next car. I know how Marie must feel I got slated when I sold my Yeti and said my new QQ was a far better all round car......Just saying like
  11. VW cars apart from the Golf have been losing their way for years, when I had company car Passat's they were always classed as market leaders in that range of car. The Tiguan and Tourag are now looking dated as are the smaller cars in the range so there is no way they keep selling them at premium prices, and reductions and add ons were going to be a certainty. Looking at the Yeti, as well the current dated engines and shape, if you want all the toys and extras that the competition have, you would be looking at an almost £30k car which is ridiculous value for money. The same applies to the Octavia which is why have I have not replaced my 56 plate L & K Octavia, it was great value when it was purchased, but now the price to replace with another L & K would be foolish.
  12. Marie, I notice you seem to be getting some stick for moving away from the Yeti fold, I did as well when I bought my Qashqai last year. Sadly some people think selling a Yeti for another model is a sin and think every other car on the market is inferior. Perhaps some of the people who are so critical should try driving a more modern car and feel the difference, and lets face it beauty in in the eye of the beholder.
  13. That's a fair comment Johann and I do realise that. The reasons for my comment was you are used to the DSG -VAG box which I also had on my Yeti and it was superb. Nissan have played around with the CVT attempting to make it have a stepped gearing effect similar to the DSG feel, there has been all sorts of problems with it and many software updates, but the complainers seem to be quiet now, maybe they have sorted it out. Sadly what you find with the QQ forum, people will moan and moan but not then come back and say it is sorted, only coming back when they have something else to moan about. This is not like the Yeti forum at all where everyone seems to ask a question without making an issue of it and also tend to defend the Yeti in every respect, as I still do. I would have gone for the CVT but as I stated earlier I do not like the way it drives, perhaps when I had my initial test drive after owning the DSG Yeti I was not like the new feel, but in fairness I only drove it for about 15 miles.
  14. Johann, I am sure you will take to the Qashqai, when I traded my Yeti in last March for my 1.2T Tekna I could not believe the difference, much quieter, smoother and tons more comfortable. Even the 19 inch wheels give a good ride and after 15 months of ownership not a single problem or complaint. As for the toys that come with the top of the range model, you could play around for months. I think the choice of a CVT box you have made may be a bad judgment as my dealings with this style of box on an earlier Prius was a horrible experience of whirring and over revving. The 6 speed manual QQ box is a delight. Come and join us on the QQ forum to add your comments.
  15. I was offered £13250 from the We Buy any Car lot on my 15 month old 1.2 DSG Elegance Yeti with a sun roof and other extras with less than 9k miles on the clock. I finally managed to get £14500 part exchange from the Nissan dealers when I bought my Qashqai. Selling cars is a rip off and throwing money away I will not be swapping cars so early next time and will run them for a number of years.
  16. All the best Marie, enjoy your new purchase when it arrives. I moved on from the Yeti 13 months ago (like you after only 14 months of ownership) and I have found the Qashqai to be a different level/class of motoring, it makes you realise just how old hat the Yeti is in every way. Even my wife has noticed and she never comments about cars
  17. Be careful on what you say Andrew, I got a few bad comments when I made the comparison between the 2014 New Qashqai and my Yeti, almost 10 months on and I have no regrets in changing what so ever, I suppose growing old makes you appreciate a more refined car, but I am saying no more.
  18. Yes Andrew keep popping in , I do, although I dare not mention my Qashqai anymore. I am waiting to see what the next generation Yeti will be, hope it has a more refined ride, as I am now used to the super smooth drive. I still miss the vision and the quirky looks.
  19. Yes and if you want to go back and live in the 1950's why not carry a set of points, condenser and distributor cap in the boot just for the fun of it. It would certainly confuse any prospective new owner
  20. I used to double declutch going down to first gear on my first car, a three speed side valve 100E Ford Anglia, don't I have never done it since. Do you remember those vacuum windscreen wipers, especially uphill !
  21. On our road some families have three cars and as they can't be bothered to manoeuvre them around, so usually leave one on the drive and the others on the road. Others just fill their garage with junk and kids toys etc. My Yeti used to fit my garage easily, but my Qashqai needs the mirrors folding in as I pass through the entrance as it is some what wider. Luckily the auto mirrors can my manually over ridden by a button press on the door and I bring them in as the wing mirrors pass through and out again when I pass the narrow bit. But you are correct in stating new build garages are too small.
  22. How do these remaps effect your insurance in Greece? I noticed on my renewal last month a new paragraph has been added stating that any County Court Judgements, Bankruptcy Hearings, Insurance Fruad, Penalty Points, engine, braking or suspension modifications most be notified immediately or your insurance may be invalidated
  23. I have the Nextbase 420g which was originally in my Yeti and now in my Qashqai, it is a very reliable product, high quality images and records all your journeys, speed etc. flawlessly. It might sound expensive but with the features it has is good value. I have also noticed from owners on the Qashqai forums very few of the dash cams pick up a GPS signal with the heated front windscreen, but the 420g has no issues with this
  24. Yes this can be done easily, this is a post I put on the forum some time ago http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/279907-for-those-of-you-who-think-you-have-something-missing/?hl=%2Bboot+%2Bcarpet
