  1. Yes, I got it replaced. You have to strip quite a bit of stuff, but once you do that the access isn't too bad. It just requires a bit of work unfortunately. I just worked off the workshop manual in the link above. Any specific questions though, just ask!
  2. Unsure as to the engine number, I'll have to check tomorrow now. I found a workshop manual via this link - https://www.hypermiler.co.uk/skoda/skoda-octavia-mk-iii-2013-workshop-service-maintenance-repair-manuals-downloads-inc-vrs-free - which has proved quite useful. Looks like the procedure is to drop the exhaust off then you can move the cat back far enough to access the pipe. Almost sounds easy when you say it like that 😆
  3. Hi there, My 2014 2.0 TDI Octavia sprang a coolant leak the other day. Traced the fault to this coolant pipe which was badly corroded and leaking. Part number is 04L121065AJ. It runs up the timing belt side of the engine and then locates into the rear of the block via one T30 bolt. Access is horrible because it's sandwiched between the block and what I think might be the catalytic converter, so it took quite a bit of time to get the bolt out. When I finally did get the bolt out my celebrations were cut short because there isn't physically enough room to pull the coolant pipe flange out of the block before it hits the cat. Has anyone replaced this pipe before, and if so, what do I have to do here? Removing the cat doesn't look simple, but I suspect it's going to be necessary. Any tips or guidance would be much appreciated!
  4. Ok, update. Drove the car out of the garage and turned the steering lock to lock a few times. The ESC and the Tyre Pressure warnings disappeared but not the Start/Stop warning. I turned the car off and on again, and now the Start/Stop warning was gone too. Happy days! I was also able to code the Park/Steering Assist module, turns out that I just needed to go into the Security Access section first, hover the mouse over the box and VCDS provided the correct security code. After inputting that code I was then able to change the coding as required. Thanks for everyone's help, I appreciate it.
  5. If you look at the post titled 'How to code official towbar electrics' in this thread (https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/299424-octavia-iii-vcds-adaptations-tried-and-tested/page/2/), you can see exactly what I did and meant when I said "code into the car". Ah, I haven't driven the car out of the garage yet, so I'll certainly have to try that tomorrow then! My "dedicated wiring kit" is indeed one that connects into the existing loom, including the can bus wires. It is not a bypass relay.
  6. Hi all, I purchased a towbar and dedicated wiring kit for my 2.0 diesel hatchback Octavia online and between Friday and yesterday, I fitted it. The fitting of the towbar itself was fine, but the wiring was definitely trickier, mainly due to access. I got there though (I'm fairly confident it's been done correctly, I took my time and while I'm not a car mechanic, I am a mechanic by trade) and turned the ignition on to check the trailer lights. All the lights are working as they should, however I have some warning messages on the screen: "Error: start-stop system", "Error: stabilisation control (ESC)", and "Error: Tyre Pressure Monitoring System". These were not present before I started. I had a look online and realised I needed to code this into the car. Fortunately I have VCDS from a previous VW ownership, so I dusted it off, found the guide on this forum https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/299424-octavia-iii-vcds-adaptations-tried-and-tested/page/2/ and worked through it. All went well, apart from the Park/Steering Assist module which presented me with, "Coding Rejected. Error 33: Security Access Required". Any idea how to deal with this? The error warnings are all still present, and I fear they will not be resolved by coding the Park/Steering module, but I may be wrong. What are people's thoughts? I have attached an Auto Scan both before and after I coded what I could. I have tried clearing the codes but they come immediately back. For those who don't want to look at the Auto Scan, I have listed the main codes below. 17158 - Databus 7150 - Implausible Data Received from Steering Angle Sensor Module (G85) 0297 - Steering angle sensor 16390 - Display for Tire Pressure Monitoring 13637426 - Databus 66304 - Databus 16135 - Steering Angle Sensor I would really appreciate any help you folks can give here. 7. Hi everyone, Recently purchased a 2014 Skoda Octavia 2.0 diesel hatchback. Coming from a 2004 Sabb 9-3 Aero 2.0T and I really like the Skoda! A do have a few issues which I'm hoping I can get to the bottom of with the help of you all. Thanks, John
