  1. Mine's the SE L TSI 5 door hatchback which has the (unnamed) 9" information display as described in the user manual. What I didn't realize is that the car's built-in navigation system works only from digital road maps held in the info system, the system does not have satellite information built-in. The satellite view on the info system screen comes from Bluetooth connection with a mobile phone in my case running Android Auto and the reason that I lost my satellite view was simply because my phone's Bluetooth connection with the car had dropped out. I restored the Bluetooth connection between my phone and the car and the info system satellite view came back via the phone. I had to figure this out for myself because when I took the car to my local Skoda dealership, (from which I bought the car), and asked them to restore the info system satellite view they sat fiddling with it for 20 minutes looking for an info system settings function which switched satellite view on and off! They eventually gave up saying they didn't know why it had stopped showing satellite view. By the way, I learned along the way that the built-in digital road maps can be updated either by downloading them from the Skoda Update Portal, copying them to an SD card, inserting the SD card into the car's USB slot and then performing a system update, or the updated maps can be purchased from Skoda already loaded onto an SD card. However, my car is so new that no updated maps are available for it yet.
  2. Just sorted it after a long play with the system. Got my satellite view back.
  3. I've had my 25 plate Fabia for just under 1000 miles and up until a couple of weeks ago the NAV screen on the information system showed the satellite view, as per Google Maps. Then it just stopped showing the satellite view and all I get now on the NAV screen is the road map view. I can still input destinations and the system still produces a route and tracks the car so it's acquiring satellites, but it just won't give the satellite view on the info screen. I've gone through the manual and there's no mention of it and I can't find anything in NAV settings which switches off satellite view. So I'd be most grateful for any advice on what's happened to default the system to road map view instead of satellite view. Thanks.
  4. Hi cwt, The infosystem in my Scala has some strange and unusual quirks, but not that one. It will sometimes repeat the track when I haven't set it to repeat, it will sometimes report 'ERROR FILE' instead of listing the tracks, but when this happens it still plays the tracks when the play arrow is pressed and finally sometimes it just won't load the SD card at all. I much preferred the infosystem in my old Fabia, but hey, that's progress!

  6. Just to draw a line under this thread in case anyone else has the same problem........ It seems to have been a combination of things. I used the on-line facility 'freeconvert.com/wav-to-mp3' to bulk convert all the ripped tracks to MP3 and then used the free download MP3tag to tag all the tracks with artist, album and track titles, Then, crucially it seems, I formatted the car SD card and copied all my original music folders which I have stored on PC and the newly ripped, converted and tagged music folders back onto the car SD card and all were then recognized by the infosystem and play perfectly. Thanks for all the help and advice along the way - much appreciated.
  7. OK Thanks, I'm familiar with Audacity. I'm a musician and I use the Reaper DAW to do my recordings rather than Audacity but I don't see how that would work. I have a vinyl album ripped using EZ Vinyl Tape Converter to 10 separate tracks so If I use 'Import Media File' in Reaper (or Audacity) I can only do one track at a time and render it to MP3. So to do the whole album would be a labour of love for sure! It's worth doing a couple of tracks though to see if the CODEC is the problem here, and thanks for the tip to try it - I didn't think of that.
  8. The album I'm doing all this with is Cat Stevens Teaser And The Firecat but I've ripped a load of my vinyl collection and was hoping to get them into the car but I'm stuck on this. If the CODEC doesn't make a difference to the album being recognized by the car then I don't know what's stopping these ripped albums being recognized. All the tags are now the same as the albums that are recognized. Very frustrating!
  9. OK, just loaded the files of my LP rip from the SD card into MP3tag and bulk tagged all the tracks with artist/album title etc. Still not showing in the car. Took a closer look and there is one difference between my LP ripped tracks and all the others on the SD card - my LP tracks are showing a PCM CODEC whereas every other track is showing an MPEG CODEC. This si something I don;t understand - I'm out of my depth here. Is this the probelm and if so how do I convert the CODEC?
  10. It looks like I need to use something like MP3tag to get this done, so I'm about to give that a try. Thanks for your help - much appreciated.
  11. Yes I've just done that. Loaded one of the LP albums into VLC and laboriously typed in the artist and album title to every track in the field you show in your post. . After doing that, loaded the LP tracks into the csr SD card again but still not showing on the info system album or artist lists. Individual tracks are on the track list. Having typed the metadata in on VLC do you have to then save the tracks back to the source? I can;t find a way to do that in VLC.
  12. Ah that's an interesting thought, thanks, I'll try going via VLC player.
  13. OK, having tried everything I give up on this one and hope that someone here knows the answer. I've done only 4K miles in my new Scala. On Day one I loaded around a dozen of my favourite CD albums from my PC onto an SD card, plugged the card into the car and presto - it all worked beautifully, including displaying album art, and has done up to this day. I recently decided to put some of my old vinyl LPs on the car SD card so I got a USB turntable, ripped the LPs off in MP3 format and loaded them onto the car SD card in exactly the same way as all the other albums already there. The 'properties' of my new LP addition folders show exactly the same as all the other existing folders on the SD card. But none of the new LP albums show on either the 'Artist' list or the 'Album' list in the car. All the individual tracks of the new albums are there in the 'Track List' listing and can be played from the 'Track List' I've formatted the SD card in case the info system puts some kind of marker on it to hide new additions, reloaded all the albums existing and new from my PC, but still only the original albums show in the 'Albums' and Artists' list and not the new LP ones. So I've given up on this and hope that there's an answer out there which someone can help with. Thanks...........
