rapidlyf started following 1.2 TSI engine help (cam chain) and Skoda Rapid Spaceback - boot struts?
-
Hi all - my boot struts are a bit weak and need replacing, where do you tend to go for new ones? I've seen a pair for around £30 on euspares.co.uk, has anyone used them before? - https://www.euspares.co.uk/parts-catalog/tailgate-struts-10926/skoda/rapid/rapid-spaceback-nh1/39231-1-2-tsi Secondly - has anyone had any luck with ultra-strong struts which you can do the key-fob unlock/auto-opening thing? Cheers!

Yeah I just meant super unleaded basically ( higher than 95). But yeah 7 years old shouldn't be bad really, seemed spot on on the test drive too -
1.2 TSI engine help (cam chain)

Cheers Mick! Yeah that's the exact one, confusing right? The engine is a CBZB and there's no where online that suggests it was ever upgraded to a 16v? Cheers for the advice re: the chain, from looking at forums that seems to be the best advice, regular oil changes etc and the odd dose of 98RON petrol - up until now the car has had regular oil changes by Skoda so it has been looked after. It also seems like the real chain issues were pre 2011/2012 from what I've read so my mind is fairly at ease 🙏🏻 -
Hi all - I'm looking at buying an (April) 2015 Rapid Spaceback SE Sport. It has done 80k miles, and the garage has changed the timing chain. I have seen issues with early 1.2TSI engines involving the chain, but it's not clear whether/when upgrades were made to later engines that still had the chain. A paid for online check says the car I'm looking to buy has the CBZB EA111 engine, which is supposed to have 8 valves, but Autotrader's check reckons it's got 16? So: - do I need to worry about any chain issues with a 2015 example? - is there any chance the car in question has a 16v version of the CBZB engine? Thanks in advance
