  1. Cheers for your reply Pat, that’s encouraging 👍👍 maybe I shouldn’t be overly worried about the mileage then. I’m interested about your egr valve experience as I had read that on the 2.0 it’s a pig of a job as it’s very difficult to get to on the back of the engine? So it can blanked off and then some form of ecu mapping is required?
  2. Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help or point me to somewhere that can? I have the opportunity to buy, VERY cheaply ( £750 ) a 2012 Superb Estate 2.0 TDI. High miles at 185K but is good condition and FSH, many of the miles are motorway, Timing belt done 2 yrs ( 25K ) ago, clutch done at 150K I want to know.... Do these cars wear their miles well? I've read the 2.0 is not quite as robust as the 1.9? What should I be looking out for? thanks, Tom.
  3. Done more reading on these engines. Is the 1.4 known as the ea111? With a camchain? Still confused as to which engines are the 1.2 and reliability seems ok but camchains only seem to last 60k? My 2007 1.2 polo 3 cylinder has 112k and is on it’s original camchain and seems ok though.
  4. Ok👍🏼 Been looking on Autotrader and ebay etc. Interesting that the diesels don’t command a premium, is this since ‘diesel gate’ and big price hikes in diesel ?? I’m still erring towards petrol though. If anyone could briefly explain the petrol engine range? from what I can work out there is a……. 3 cylinder 1.2 normally aspirated ( would this be the same 3 pot in my 2007 Polo?), camchain 4 cylinder 1.2 TSi, is this turbocharged? Cambelt? 4 cylinder 1.4 turbo? Cambelt? 4 cylinder 1.6 turbo? Cambelt? any opinions of these engines would be great👍🏼
  5. Thanks for the replies Chaps👍🏼 so electrical issues seem common? Is it mainly in the doors, windows and locks?
  6. Hello, I’m new to the forum and I’m not yet a Roomster owner. I’m looking for a little advice on buying as I’m finding the choice a little baffling as sellers seem to list things all a little differently and I can’t work out how the models differed as time went by? if I list my situation….. I’m thinking petrol as we only do about 8k per year and most is not motorway. We go camping every so often and my wife needs to carry things for her job, hence the need for space. I like to do basic servicing and repairs My budget is £3500 max We’ve had Two Renault Scenics for the past 20yrs which give you an idea what we need in a car. They have been great but I don’t like the MK3’s and fancy a change really, always thought the Roomster looked great and it seems very practically thought out. I’d also heard bad things about VAG group cars but having owned a cheap 2007 1.2 3 cylinder Polo for two years now it’s been a good little car. any advice would be great, Tom
  7. Hello from Englands midlands. I’m not a Skoda owner yet but I intend to be one in the next few months. I’m looking at Roomsters and could do with a little advice, I’ll post in the Roomster section after I’ve sent this. I’ve always admired Czech engineering having ridden CZ motorcycles for the 25yrs, I still have a 350 twin I bought in 1997. Back then you could buy them for peanuts. I payed £70! They were actually imported by Skoda UK in Kings Lynne and were much maligned by the uneducated as were theSkoda cars. It’s a basic two stroke that has never left me stranded!!! I almost bought a 120 Estelle in 97, I test drove it, ummed and ahhed over it for a day, went back to buy it and it had sold an hour earlier!!! It was £300 and had done and 25k!!!! How times have changed. Tom.
