  1. Sadly I'm so new to this car that I have no clue what the options are and how to describe them re: head units. I mean - I know it's the stock one but if there is more than one choice I'm at a loss. I guess I can pull the head unit and see if there's a dirty/loose connector in there. Next thing of course is to know how to safely pull the head unit... LOL. Bloody Haynes books are all online now and I cannot abide online books for car maintenance... who's got a laptop in one hand and a spanner in the other? LOL.
  2. Is there a quick way to put the cigarette lighter socket on an ignition-controlled feed? I've got my dashcam and a bluetooth dongle fed from it and a phone charger; ideally I'd like it all to go "off" when I shut the car down or when I open the driver's door AFTER shutting down.
  3. I bought an Octavia II 1Z (first reg March 2010) (1.8 Petrol, Auto) a month ago and I always like to have a bunch of like-mindeds around me when my stuff breaks down. Thanks for putting this place together!
  4. Hi. Noticed a few problems with the screen/infotainment gear and I was hoping someone could help me find a common factor or connector to check or something? Bought the car a month ago and trying to get to grips with it. The reversing display only works about half the time (i.e. when it's not working, the display doesn't switch to reversing when selecting reverse gear). The bleeper is always working so suspect a computer issue rather than a reversing sensor issue. Sometimes, the screen goes off and needs to be switched back on while driving. Bluetooth settings are there in the car and you can switch it on: but phone doesn't see it and therefore can't connect to it. Pressing the "Phone" button just mutes the volume and does nothing else. Anyone any ideas please?
